Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 22, 2008 8:48 pm Hi All
Our plans went to council yesterday so we are pretty excited that we are finally on our way. We bought our block in April so it feels like it has already been forever. Go to this link here http://picasaweb.google.com.au/niklawless/HouseAtComo# to see our colour selections and the floor plan we designed etc. I will keep adding as I go. Bring on DA approval!! We love the windows in the bedroom on each side of the bed, wish had thought to do this! regards sean Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 5Nov 23, 2008 12:23 am Hi Sean - that was a last minute change and only because when i was looking for bamboo flooring i found that pic and thought, wow, how great does that look?? lucky for us we just scraped in before the builders decided to charge us for the change
Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 7Nov 23, 2008 7:12 am Love your choices - your basin taps and tile colours are stunning. Also love the bedroom windows either side of the bed.
Good luck with your DA. Fingers crossed the Xmas break doesn't drag it out too long! FYI the Wincrest near my place is going up so quickly. From what I can see plaster and electricals have been done and they only started end of August!! Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 9Nov 23, 2008 9:57 am Hi D@n
We agonised over whether to have carpet upstairs and ultimately decided not to. We have long haired pets and the other half is quite asthmatic. We have timber floors throughout our current home and don't mind it so decided to stick with what we know and what we can keep as dust and animal fur free as possible! Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 10Nov 23, 2008 10:12 am Hi Buildingadreamhome
Thank you! And i see that you have chosen the masterton. Good luck! Keep me posted. Are you changing the plans much? L Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 11Nov 23, 2008 10:27 am Just looooove your floorplan ! Great layout !
Love the size of your e/s and adore your upstairs linen closet !!!! I"ve pretty much lost 1/2 of mine becasue we had to narrow down the LH side of the house Great size kitchen bench - yippee ! Your gorgeous bricks are exactly what I wanted but our builder only works with Boral & PGH, so we couldn't have them Was the slimline watertank an upgrade? Ours is round . To upgrade to slimline would have cost $3000 And this from a 'prestige' builder - Great colour scheme - it's going to be a smash ! Keep up the pics, once things start rolling ! Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 12Nov 23, 2008 11:22 am Thanks Southies! The tank...hmmm...well, "included" in our package was a 3000lt tank. but of course it was the huge round one - not necessarily a problem BUT we are building on a slope and the round one just wouldn't fit next to the house unless we levelled out the land even more. So, we had no choice but to upgrade to the slimline 5000lt. we are planning on getting another 2000lt or 3000lt slimline tank after we move in and hoping that on that one we will get some rebate.
we also want to connect to greywater - i hate to think what they are going to charge to make sure our plumbing allows that. i saw a great looking greywater diverter at bunnings for about $400 which I am hoping we can hook up after handover. L Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 13Nov 23, 2008 11:38 am Loretta, our builder charged $506 to supply and install grey water diverter during construction.
Now we just have to buy the actual hosing from hardware store - when we have a garden to divert water to. Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 14Nov 23, 2008 1:18 pm Hey Loretta
Only one structual change to take 7.5cm off the width at the front down stairs and changing a couple of window styles and that't it! We've had to upgrade our tank aswell to a 10000L underground tank!!! Thanks council! Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 17Nov 23, 2008 2:51 pm loretta BADH, that is fantastic. I just looked at the plans - great house. i am so pleased for you. yay! Thank you! We are very excited. Have you created a blog?? I need to start one. Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 18Nov 23, 2008 4:20 pm No, not yet. I am still in two minds. That link on picasa is it for now. I may start a blog though soon. Good to have a record of everything i suppose. Handy in the event anything goes wrong.
Re: Loretta's new house - ****UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 09**** SLAB DOWN 19Nov 23, 2008 8:16 pm loretta we also want to connect to greywater - i hate to think what they are going to charge to make sure our plumbing allows that. i saw a great looking greywater diverter at bunnings for about $400 which I am hoping we can hook up after handover. L We asked about grey water and were told it was too hard and too expensive. Foolishly we didn't push on this. The guy who came to do the trenching showed me how easy and cheap it could have been to add some extra piping to allow us to catch the water water from the bath and showers (ie plumb in grey water). However it was too late then to make any changes so we missed out- the pipes are in the slab. So keep asking on this point regards sean Hi HomeOne, I'm in the midst of landscaping a cat run down the side of my house, and the recent rains have me wondering if I need to install some sort of drainage.
