Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 12, 2009 7:02 pm Hi all, I have been lingering on the forum for ages and have started a few threads about colours, facade, kitchen waterfalls, etc but none about the entire build. I was waiting until we had started as I didn't want to jinx it. It has been an intense 7 and a bit months since we put down the 1st deposit with Wisdom for this house. I guess we also have quite a difficult block: next to a big drop off, sewer running under the house (concrete encased thank goodness), odd shape block, easements for storm water drain, sewer, etc... but we eventually got the final drawings, signed the contract and got DA approval on the 12th May (after a record 3 and a bit weeks with Hornsby Shire Council! very happy about that). We finally started a blog (http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/) when we got our long awaited red pegs (29th May) and since then been waiting to start. Today was going to be the day of site benching but after taking the afternoon off to be there to see it we saw that they were only bringing the fill in today... When they said benching today we assumed they would have brought the fill during the week ready for today but it didn't happen... Oh well, SS has promised that the benching will be done on Monday (unfortunately Hubby will be away as he can't change his schedule again [he changed it around this week to be in Sydney today] so I'll have to just send him photos instead ) so I guess I'll update the blog with more pics then! Here are a couple of pics of the block and the piles of fill that arrived today... I hope we start moving fast like Principessa is, she is flying ahead!!!! I know we are building out of Wisdom's normal build area (for which we had to pay a premium) but our SS said that won't affect us or slow us down. For now some pics... Pic of view from the block another one of the view One of the block from the top road (the big tree in the middle of the block had just been removed, this is a few weeks ago) and last but no least today's "progress" - the piles of fill and the portaloo, can't wait to post some real progress pics! PS: Sorry for the huge size of the pics, I should have reduced the size! What a beautiful outlook and wonderful place to build. Congratulations on starting, you'll need to add your floorplan and colours and everything to this thread so we can see everything together! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Pity that hubby can't be there on Monday, I have everything crossed for a fine day for you. Take heaps of photo's for the build album. Only 3 more sleeps to go. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - nearly starting... 4Jun 12, 2009 7:19 pm Great view Jochicho! Beautiful & you know what we want..........so keep it up with loads of pics, even if you think they're boring .........we luv 'em all Looks like the driveway is shared by several blocks, is that right ? We've got LOOOAAADS of those kind of blocks in this area, too. Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - nearly starting... 5Jun 12, 2009 7:34 pm Thanks Joles, Danma and Southies! you girls are fantastic, really know how to cheer one of us up! I really needed it today. Oh well, if you like the big pics Joles then I won't feel as guilty for posting them that huge anymore. Thanks Joles - the view is what made us buy the block, it faces West so it has wonderful sunsets, I think the sunset blinded us and we chose not to see the difficulties of the block... Oh, do I have to add all that info (colours, floorplan, etc) here? Isn't it enough on the blog? Thanks Danma - you sure know about dirt with your mother of all Drop edge beams! Yeah, it's a shame that hubbie will be in Perth all next week... I'll have to send him pics I guess. Not sure how'll do that as I can't really take more time off, might have to take a couple of hours in the middle of the day... ummm, let's see what the boss says - He's very enthusiastic about our build (he is an engineer of course, I work with a bunch of them) but I guess he has his limits Thanks Southies - Ok, I'll add more boring pics when there's any progress, . Yep, we all share the private driveway, in fact we all own a bit of it (and have a right of carriageway easement on that part of the land) but it's mainly owned by the 1st block closer to the main road (good, that way he'll have to pay maintenance costs ). I was a huge property that got subdivided into 5 blocks. Yeah, you are in an established area so I am sure they've done it around there heaps too. I guess we'll be like a small little community! Thanks again for your support, I was so excited to see you all come up so fast! and humbled Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/ Re: Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - nearly starting... 6Jun 12, 2009 7:37 pm Blog is great..... but where's the link? Our block wasn't in the Fire zone at all!!! Yep, even our SS could not believe it... I think it's because of the drop off and the lineway on the other side and the main road at the top, they would probably work as fire breaks... Not sure, but we were really happy that at least we didn't have yet another charge for that... we are all Widsom builds stalkers!
