Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 12, 2009 1:46 pm Hi guys!! I thought I would start my own thread (wishful thinking to speed things up a bit maybe, seemed to work for kirsada and annie.s ) My name is Laura, I'm 23 and this is my first build. My block is in Butler which is north of Perth. It's 612m2 with an 18m frontage. I received conditional approval from the bank last week, so now I'm waiting on final contracts and plans It has taken me all morning to try and post a photo and I don't think it has come out the right size but oh well it will have to do for now! See below for my plan and elevation! Comments are welcome and FYI- I have been working at the Water Corporation for a few years now however I am a qualified beauty therapist, which is the reasoning behing the semi ensuite door to bed 2/office as this will be my 'beauty room' where I can do some clients from home on a casual basis (as well as my full time job). The door to the ensuite gives easy access to sinks etc. I also thought in the future it would make a great nursery, being close to the master suite. I'm at a similar stage as you - conditional approval received, soil reports done. Just waiting on the plans and documentation from the builder! Maybe we can have a race to see who gets to prestart first? I'm building a bit south from you in Carramar New beginnings. Re: Alisgirl's build with Blueprint Homes, Perth 4Jun 12, 2009 4:20 pm Sounds great!! We are waiting on final approval here .. tick tick tick.. Next stop should be prestart whenever they ring for that lol Re: Alisgirl's build with Blueprint Homes, Perth 5Jun 12, 2009 4:38 pm Hey Laura, The plans look good! Its going to be fairly big inside, and I like the idea of the door into the ensuit from your beauty room. And hey, what a bonus, I'll have a beauty therapist not too far from home! Good luck with your build. Keep us posted! Well it's got me sucked in anyway. It's good to see that we have another water boarder oops water corper on board. The head of the household also works for them. She's at the Leederville building. Am glad all is going well so far. Keep the forum post of your progress and share the heartaches and joys with the rest of us here. Cheers Roger ps Beauty the rapist eh. You might get some bussiness from here, who knows? Re: Alisgirl's build with Blueprint Homes, Perth 10Jun 15, 2009 12:52 pm Hey Roger, I'm at Leederville too! I'm in subdivisions. Perth is such a small place Thanks everyone for your comments I went to the blueprint showroom yesterday to do some more deliberating. So far I have chosen Roof- Colorbond Monument Bricks- Albany Cream Windows- Charcoal Render-??? Laundry, bathroom & kitchen will be greys and charcoals, but not sure exactly which ones yet! Ensuite will be more earthy tones. That's all for now! Building with Blueprint homes, Perth WA Prestart complete, settlement 14/08/09 Re: Alisgirl's build with Blueprint Homes, Perth 11Jun 15, 2009 12:56 pm I pulled up Colorbond Monument, it looks like a really nice colour! I'd go for a light coloured render, are you having one render colour or two? If two, I'd say go a medium grey/stone type of colour and for the main part of the render choose a lighter white/cream render. I think that would work well with the dark windows. Sooty's House - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19462 Re: Alisgirl's build with Blueprint Homes, Perth 12Jun 15, 2009 2:34 pm Hey sooty Yep I'm thinking two render colours, pretty much exactly what you said, a lightish grey and maybe an off white/cream. Great minds think alike! My Land settlement date is supposed to be this friday but I'm still waiting on contracts so have asked my broker to request an extension. My sales rep from the building company just called though and said I should have the contracts by the end of this week which is awesome. Hopefully the bank will then send through unconditional approval nice and fast so I don't have to request a second extension! Fingers crossed. At least with render you can repaint it if you don't like the end result... We decided on our render colours on the weekend... the roof is going to be Ironstone, with the main render being Solver Polish Grey and a feature wall painted to match Colorbond Windspray (which is an off white). Front doors will be Solver Juggernaut (gloss) and we are having a cedar look garage door. New beginnings. I'm thinking: Ensuite benchtop: Laminex Caper berry Ensuite cupboards: Laminex Licorice Linea Kitchen Cupboards: Formica Asphalt Kitchen Benchtop: Hopefully a 'diamond gloss' colour, I'm finding out if I can get it. If not maybe Laminex graphite? Or Evening shale? Laundry Benchtop: Laminex Morning Shale Laundry Cupboard: Formica Storm Gosh they do come out a lot different on my computer screen to the sample! That's all for now, getting there! YAAAY!! Land settlement was supposed to be tomorrow so we will still need an extension but hopefully this will be the only one we need. I wanted gloss for some of my benchtops but they wouldn't allow it, some crap to do with it being scratched easily. I badgered them about it but they wouldn't give in. So If you have kids or just don't think you can keep it absolutely spotless all the time then maybe go for another finish. If you're a neat freak, it will look great! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Alisgirl's build with Blueprint Homes, Perth CONTRACTS READY 20Jun 18, 2009 9:27 pm I have gloss in the bathroom and I actually don't find it leaves any marks or fingerprints at all. Obviously if you leave puddles of water on it to dry you get the water marks you need to wipe off, but never any smudgy fingerprints.
