Browse Forums Building A New House Re: My new place - 10Dec09 Handover tomorrow? 121Dec 12, 2009 7:37 am Well . . . I can't say yesterday went well. Thursday - builder writes a letter stating they'll fix the issues Jan4 and I can move in before christmas. I call my project manager and he says he has friday afternoon free for handover. I ask him to please keep that slot aside. The credit union needed to get a valuation on the house before they'd proceed with payment. I started to organise this on Wednesday, but they weren't available until Friday morning. At around about 930 Friday, my CSO advised that the key's had been picked up by the valuer. Cool - progress! Emailed credit union to advise inspection had started. Left VM for PM. Contacted my girlfriend who was at home. Advise her that there that we might be moving in. Whoo hoo! A few hours later, I received an email from my CSO stating that the valuation was over, but if I want to achieve handover by the afternoon, they'd need a bank cheque as electronic transfer wouldn't clear in time. Bugger . . . Checked the internet for branch locations . . . The nearest branch is over 200km away from Smallbury. . idea! Called Credit Union. . . The lending department doesn't speak to customers before 12 (doing assessments etc.), so I left a voicemail to ask if I could get somone from the builders Bendigo office to visit the branch to pick up the cheque. Left voicemail for project manager to advise. Called my CSO and the phone diverted to Bendigo? . . . . My CSO has left for Melbourne to go to the Christmas party. I spoke to the Bendigo office and asked very nicely and they said it may be possible for them to pick up the cheque. waited. . . . waited. . . . waited. . . . CU contacted me - The valutation has returned and they're happy to proceed with payment. They're also happy to give the cheque to builder. Sweet! Called project manager left vmm. Faxed Bendigo branch of CU to advise on the plan and authorise pickup of cheque. Called Bendigo builder and organised for 3pm. Left vmm for project manager. YES! THINGS ARE WORKING ! Tell GF the good news. 4PM - called Bendigo. Yes, CSO hasn't returned from CU, but she shouldn't be far 405PM - Bendigo call. Cheque has been received . . . BUT they also advise my PM isn't in town and can't handover the house. $#@%$%$@%$%&$^% %$^%#%$^%$^#%#% It's so frustrating to organise everything and have it all fall apart. My girlfriend and I are gutted. Can't start moving in until Monday and all my stress and effort came to nothing. He calls at 6pm - Everyone has gone to Melbourne for Christmas party. He can't come into Albury to give me the keys until next week. I offered to meet him somewhere, but the keys are in town and he has a family get together to attend so can't do it. Says he had a meeting go long in Yarrawonga and he heard that handover might not happen. Obviously didn't get my voicemails or BOTHER TO CONTACT ME TO ADVISE THAT HE CANCELLED THE BOOKING I MADE! Thanks for the help from the valuer, my credit union, the CSO and staff at the bendigo office. I'm not going to say what I think about my project manager right now though. Re: My new place - P7 It's mine! 122Dec 17, 2009 6:34 am Well, the handover meeting took place on Monday and I moved in on Tuesday Will post pics once I get an internet connection set-up. I'm not really impressed with their after sales service. I emailed them on the 4th of Jan and they haven't addressed a single problem. Missing light bulb at the rear - I don't care, but they said they'd fix it. Missing door stoppers - they promised twice to install them. The Kitchen sinks self drain, so you can't leave dishes soaking. Missing keys for alfresco sliding door. They said that it was impossible to match them to the other sliding door, but I've spoken with the manufacturer and that's BS. They ordered and installed the wrong door months ago and it looks like they forgot to specify the matching key when getting the replacement. :banghead: Missing documentation for spa-bath. Missing termite protection documentation. + a couple of other things. That out of the way - Here are some pics. Excuse the clutter, but I'm still settling in. Bit of a mess So, as far as living here? It's not too shabby The place is huge compared to our old unit, the AC works well and it's about 5 minutes drive from the main street. Gripes? Besides the builder, the hard work is a pain! Working 6 days, I don't get much free time anymore and it's only going to get worse with uni starting in a fortnight. There's always a small job to do and it'll be that way for months. The kitchen sinks drain themselves and I think there's a bit of mould growing in the plaster next to the ensuite shower. Moaning aside though, the progress can be rewarding and it's getting more complete every day. They havent addressed my issues from January (raised in December at handover) and I haven't heard anything about my 3 month repair visit - Which was due 17 days ago. I love that dark flooring you have in the kitchen area, in contrasts really well with the lighter cabinets. Handover was in DEC09 and I still don't have keys for the alfresco door. After an attempted repair, the mold remains in my ensuite. My lounge and toilet have so many blemishes that they need to be totally repainted and there's a small list of other defects. A friendly handyman spent a day in December and one in Jan fixing items, but there's been no action since. Overall, the house is fine and there's nothing majorly wrong - but I just want to move on!
