I'll try and take some more photos though . . . The PCI took a lot longer than I expected and there were countless paint and plaster issues. Most of the other things were ok though - cupboard and range hood out of alignment, missing grout in the showers, missing door stopper in BR1. Maybe a couple of others, but they've slipped my mind. The big issue is the mouldings for the front 6 windows. They were meant to arrive last week, but they were delayed several times. 3 arrived today and they were being installed when I got there. Something didn't look right and upon closer inspection, I realised that they were 90 degrees out of alignment and flat with the wall. The workmen and I tested them in different ways, but they're ~20mm too short and don't line up. It gets more complicated though. . . I ordered the facade and mouldings from the builder’s website and visited their display home : Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My mouldings only cover top and left sides of the windows, whereas the display home has them on the bottom too. I hope they'll work it out, because mine might look a little strange without them. I've checked the contract tonight and there's also meant to be a molding above the entry - but I didn't notice during the inspection. Anyway, here's how they look partially installed. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Side moldings are too short and are sitting in my driveway. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Some great news though . . . . I initially wanted bi-fold doors, but couldn't justify the uber-bucks. When touring the display homes, I noticed stacked alfresco sliding doors. They look like a regular 3 panel sliding door, but two of the panels slide and stack behind the fixed glass. Best of all, it was a ~$700 upgrade. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A month or two back, I noticed that my door is a 3 panel door with only one sliding panel. I was pretty bummed but figured that there had been a mixup in ordering and I'd signed the contract for the wrong door - and I'd be stuck with it. I had a look at the part numbers, but couldn't make any sense of it. Anyway, I talked to the project manager today, mainly to express my disappointment that the ordering process had gone wrong. We checked the contact and it looks like I'm meant to have the alfresco door  A bit late to discover the mistake and I hope it doesn't delay handover. Re: My new place - PCI tomorrow! 103Nov 06, 2009 10:24 pm i think it;s pretty normal to have a few things go wrong, the key is to catch them as they come up so they don't delay handover, which it looks like you are doing well - so keep it up! BTW, colours look fantastic! A thankful person is a happy person. That said, they've fixed a couple of the issues: A missing section of render has benn added. The spa pump has a cover. Probably others. Moldings are still not ready, so I hope that isn't going to cause a big delay. I'm still hoping handover will be this week, but I have my doubts Re: My new place - Handover this week? Maybe next. 105Nov 13, 2009 6:44 pm Moldings won't be here till next week. That's not the worst though . . Alfresco doors will delay handover by 2 weeks Re: My new place - Handover this week? Maybe next. 108Nov 20, 2009 9:55 pm Yeah, I'm really happy that my door is being replaced. Just a shame it's taking so long. My neighbours moved in last Friday - My house had a roof before their slab started. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Well, the new moldings have been partially installed . . . Not exactly what I'd celebrate as fast progress Re: My new place - Handover this week? Maybe next. 110Nov 23, 2009 8:51 pm *grumbles* I called my Project manager on Wednesday and left a voicemail, trying to get an update on progress. The moldings were meant to be on Monday/Tuesday last week, so I wanted to know why they weren't installed. The painter can't come until the moldings are installed, so delays with the moldings may push back my handover. I also wanted an ETA on the alfresco door. . . . No reply. I called on Friday and left another message. I'm trying to organise a floor and I'd like to find out when I'll have to give notice to my landlord. No reply. Called him today and left another message. No reply. I called my CSO at lunchtime. I explained that I need an update, but am unable to contact my Project Manager. She said she'd contact him, then give me an update. No reply, so I called back at 16:55. The office phone was engaged. Deceided to drive by the house. Moldings are STILL not in place. Furious. Waited 20 minutes and called my project manager at 17:30 - Straight to voicemail, so I left another frustrated but polite message. On the plus side, I placed a deposit on my floor: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Dark brown oiled oak. It's scheduled for install on the 30th of November. Lets hope I'll have the keys. ON A RELATED NOTE: Does the contracted build time start ticking down from the CONTRACT SIGNING DATE? Re: My new place - Handover this week? Maybe next. 111Nov 24, 2009 11:16 am looking good ! That level of customer service is appalling ! Now I just appreciate my builder so much more reading threads like yours... our calls/emails always returned - never leftin the dark. Fingers crossed you get it sorted soon ! Re: My new place - Handover this week? Maybe next. 112Nov 24, 2009 9:07 pm Thanks Jaded I waited until lunchtime and didn't hear anything, so I emailed the CSO and waited some more. No reply. At 1640, I phoned the CSO and the call wasn't answered. I went though my emails and found the phone number of her supervisor. I called and was told the supervisor didn't work there anymore and that the CSO was out (at one of their other offices), but should have returned. If not, she'd be back first thing in the morning. At this point, I felt that it was futile to complain to a stranger, so I chose to wait for my CSO to return. Sometime after work, my project manager returned my call (hooray! ). He apologised and explained that he's been chasing answers for me, but was reluctant to call as he didn't have any real news. I tried to explain that I'd prefer to hear him say "nothing" than I assume nothing is happening. The main points he mentioned are that the mouldings were incorrectly drawn on my plans. He said that the plans for their display home are actually different to the finished display home - and thus my plans are incorrect. He assured me that the finished product will match the display. He apologised that it's taken so long and said the issue was due to internal problems. The time line was explained as: Tomorrow - Moldings will be installed. The alfresco door is arriving on Thursday, installed Friday/Monday. Paint touch-ups - Monday Tuesday. The good news is that my flooring is going in pre-handover. My booking is for the 30th and the project manager has given me permission for them to be on site. Hopefully there won't be any dramas with multiple workmen/paint/damages. They're expecting handover to be late NEXT week. So, good and bad news - more delays, but at least I know where I stand. Re: My new place - Handover this week? Maybe next. 113Nov 30, 2009 8:01 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ No progress on the facade due to the weather, but the floors have been partially installed. I managed to pick up a 6 panel sliding blind for the family room for $220. I was expecting to pay about $600. The colours aren't perfect, but it should cover the new alfresco door nicely. I can always swap the panels later too. Score Still hope for handover late this week. Need to: Finish floors Install moldings Repaint missed areas, moldings, render and any faults. Oh no, what's happened? Thanks No real reason. The painter is coming tomorrow to finish painting the render, moldings and touch up the faults. There isn't really anything else left besides paint and a couple of small issues. I guess my bank will require another inspection and time for payment to clear, but the builder has said that it's just not going to happen. Meanwhile, while going through my paperwork I've found a "building journey" document that says : STAGE 6 - SETTLEMENT Builders responsibilities Practical Completion Inspection of your new home is to be undertaken. Settlement is required 7 days thereafter. PCI was 26 days ago! Anyway, the mouldings went on today. HOPEFULLY getting painted to match the dark grey tomorrow. As you'll see in the above photo, they aren't even. The texture doesn't match and the panel gaps are clearly visible. I sent my project manager and CSO some photos on friday afternoon. Called this afternoon and left a voicemail. No reply. When am I going to get my keys? I've been at handover for almost two months!
