Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 10, 2009 12:13 pm After waiting so long to see our colours finally up, our builder has rendered one large wall the wrong colour!!
My concern is that it is a purple colour and the correct colour should be a light colour. I am waiting for a reply on how it will be rectified and raised my concerns about putting the correct lighter colour over a dark colour that their will be some colour differential. The wall section they painted (top floor) is to have the original light render colour directly underneath it on the ground floor. My question is, has anyone had to paint out a dark acrylic render and colour it with a lighter colour? Or do you think it will be ok? Re: Acrylic render on wrong wall. 2Jun 11, 2009 3:20 pm I am not too sure but paint is very tricky. If they were to paint a lighter colour over that wall it would pick up the colour in the darker paint and still change the colour from the original colour you had chose Our builder painted our main exterior colour on the wrong wall and then went over it with the darker colour that was suppose to be there but it still changed the anticipated colour, it made it lighter. However they would either have to remove the colour from the wall or do double colour of a neutral over that purple before re painting with your natural colour. The best thing is to find what paint they are using take the picture to a retail seller / specialist of that paint and ask them exactly what needs to be done, because realistically builders most of the time look for the cheapest and quickest solution. Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
