Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 07, 2009 3:54 pm Heya Everyone, This is for anyone who is building or built with dennis, this question is for you. We have just signed our contract, and now in 2 weeks time we have our colour appointment, which we were informed that we should go to the showrooms first.. We really want to stick to the standard builders range. So far we have been to the showroom for the bricks, roof tiles and guttering which we are happy about the standard range. Next week we plan to go to the showroom for the tiles and floor tiles, as we need to stick to the standard range, will the sales person know which ones to show us??? As it doesn't inform us in the colour selection booklet of what range we can choose from ... I just don't want to be looking at the upgrades... Also were you happy with the standard range, do you get to choose the size of the floor tiles?? We did make a upgrade to have a cherry red splashback.... Thanks for the help Re: questions about the standard builders ranges from Dennis 2Jun 07, 2009 11:14 pm Hi naytara We are currently building with Dennis, just past lockup stage. Congratulations on taking the first step towards your new home. With respect to your question on tiles, you need to make an appointment with the tiling suppliers allow at least two hours for this appointment. The sales consultant at the tiling supplier will know exactly which tiles are in the builders range with Dennis Family. We found it beneficial to visit the other suppliers (cabinetry, carpet etc) before tiles and also bring these colour selections in with you to the tiling appointment so they can match your selections. We predominatly went with the tiles from the standard range and found the range and quality to be excellent. Be interested to know what house you are building and where. Feel free to visit our blog and let me know if you have any further questions. I went to the Reception desk and a lady showed me which tiles were the standard range for DFH. (The silver marked tiles, gold and white were upgrades). There was a pretty good range of floor tiles, not as much range in the wall tiles. The tiles we have chosen all came from the standard range and I'm extremely happy with all the ones chosen. In regards to the other items we have chosen pretty much standard for all of the other items except for the carpet, we've upgraded that because I didn't really like the standard range, especially with a 3 year old as the standard range probably wont wear very well. Congrats on being at lock up stage, NoviceBuilder.... Also congrats rj_louise, when do you start building? We are building the princeton in crib point... We are so excited, we are planning to go to beaumount tiles on wednesday, we did go to carpet call today and yeah, we are pretty disppointment of the standard range. So now we have to work out if we can do a upgrade or do it yourselves after or just stick with the standard, we have already spent 20 grant in other upgrades.. Can I ask which house and where you guys are building??? Re: questions about the standard builders ranges from Dennis 5Jun 08, 2009 5:08 pm We signed our contracts on Saturday and have a site start of the first week in July. We are building the Hartley 280 with spa option at Settlers Run. Having said that we have our colour appointment on Wednesday which I think is a little unusual signing contracts before colour appt, but they assure me we wont be charged for any PCV if we upgrade some more items, which if I go by what we've done so far is more than likely to happen. They have got a huge range of tiles in DFH standard range. If I am not mistaken, for floor tiles, they have sizes from size 30x30 to size 45x45. And they have a HUGE selection of colours and finish (gloss or matt). I am sure you will find something that you like without the need to upgrade. Hope this helps. We were very impressed with the standard range and needed to upgrade very little. The only things we upgraded at our colour appointment were: Brick infills above all windows Off white mortar Front door & lock Stainless kickboard in kitchen In regards to tiles we visited Hynes tiles in Hoppers Crossing and chose some 450x450 tiles, we didnt make an appointment so just had a look around by ourselves and they just pointed out which ones were standard with Dennis but would reccomend making one we just chose our floor tiles and made all other selections at our colour appointment. It is good that you are visiting all the suppliers we had visited most of them but hadnt visited Parbury however we didnt have any trouble making the selections on the day and it took us under an hour! What we have done in a few theatres ( including my own) is run 2 layers of 13mm gyprock, but sounds insulation especially for the bass is really tricky as a lot of that… 4 2548 Personally, considering your layout (study/work desks in bedrooms), I don't think you have any other option but to leave NW windows and make them as big as possible e.g.… 7 10455 We had this happen to us last year and got charged a variation.
