Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 05, 2009 8:06 pm Yay! We finally had a site cut last week, we have been waiting for this for so long that we can't believe it is finally happening.
We are building the Windarra a 33SQ single storey house with M. It seems to be moving quite fast, we were told that the slab will be poured next week and should not be too long for the frame to be put after that. Anyway, enough talking, here are some photos. Sorry don't have anything interesting, just some dirt (which we are very excited about) R_IMG_2290_2.jpg R_IMG_2291_2.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our Dreamhome 3Jun 05, 2009 8:14 pm Southies woo hoo dreamhome ......was wondering where you 'went' - hadn't seen your posts in a long time. Congrats on the start Thanks Southies Been so busy with work the last couple of months that i haven't had much time to login to Homeone. There are so many new posts and new people in here, it's great to see that so many people are building. We've been waiting for the land to settle for months and everything was finalised with the builder but we couldn't sign the final contract until the land settles. Oh well, it's all done now so i'm glad we can move forward. How are you doing with your build? [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. We were quite disappointed last week as we were told the slab would be poured last week but nothing was done. Over the weekend, we noticed that some materials were delivered but the tradies were nowhere to be seen. Finally today, DH found that they are getting ready to pour the slab. Sorry for the dark pictures as we took them tonight just in case they pour the slab tomorrow and we miss this. Does anyone know what the white packing foams are used for? Do they pour the concrete on top of it, how can it bear the load of concrete? Now i'm confused! They look like the stuff you get in boxes to prevent furniture/tv to move around in the box.. It's the first time i see this, has anyone had their builder use this? [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Our Dreamhome 9Jun 16, 2009 8:48 pm Trying to upload the pics but i am getting an error message 'Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.', does anyone know what it means and what i need to do to upload the pics? Did anyone build with M and have a waffle pod slab? [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Our Dreamhome 19Jun 16, 2009 9:25 pm Basically, they poor concrete over the pods, the pods (as mentioned above) are just filler so that it takes less concrete. Edit: Oh, it seems to be a fairly common practice, so probably not much to worry about Re: Our Dreamhome 20Jun 16, 2009 9:48 pm D&SG Basically, they poor concrete over the pods, the pods (as mentioned above) are just filler so that it takes less concrete. Edit: Oh, it seems to be a fairly common practice, so probably not much to worry about Thanks D&SG, some of our neighbours seem to have the same so i guess it can't be that bad... So it looks like it is used so that to cut down on costs by using less concrete..? [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. It seems very clear to me that your contract states that a security account does NOT need to be established so the answer to the builder is NO.
