No wonder you've had enough. So glad that the last meeting was positive in that at least you had everyone there at the same time - it eliminates a bit of the 'he said, she said' which makes it so hard to get anywhere!! Let us know how this afternoon's meeting goes. Progress now please people!!! I feel sooo disappointed, i feel like Some of the issues are still not fixed. Our inspector will be sending a report shortly but i am soooo soooo over this. I am sent an email to the builder as i don't believe we should be paying for the re-inspection fees. We wouldn't have to carry out reinspections if they had fixed the issues before the first preplaster inspection. And we were given the assurance that they had fixed the issues each time. I feel lost, upset, angry all at the same time.. what should i do? [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Dreamhome Enough is enough 90Oct 06, 2009 9:22 pm Oh I'm so sorry to hear the dreamhome!! You must feel like your bashing your head up against a brick wall!!! I would certainly be sending that email, I think along the same lines as you (wrong or right I have no idea). If you are forced to get another inspection because of their poor work you shouldn't have to pay for it. Do you still have green bricks??? Its a simple process to get them right again, I hope they have done something about it!!! I hope it picks up for you asap!! I feel lost, upset, angry all at the same time.. what should i do? Yeah, you must feel so ripped off and frustrated and disappointed - I can't believe the issues haven't been resolved yet! What does your inspector say about the situation? Are there other avenues you should pursue to get things negotiated/sorted out, and at what point would you go for one of those options? Surely you shouldn't have to keep paying for reinspections unless your builder can prove that the inspector is being unreasonable!! If the builder (or contractor) didn't intend to fix the issues that have been identified, then he should have been upfront about that straight away and justified his position. If he didn't understand the issues, then he needed to seek clarification. And if he just hoped that the issues would slip under the radar so that he wouldn't actually have to address all of them, well he was being unethical then, and stupid now because it's obvious that won't happen! Upset for you! We're home!!! The builder says this is common and they can get this removed by neutralising the bricks. We had some other issues where they had to pull down and replace some the bricks so they are waiting for all the bricks to be replaced/fixed before they neutralise everything together. My inspector does not seem to stress about it either, he says it will come out. Let's just hope it does as green is not my favourite colour [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Dreamhome Enough is enough 94Oct 07, 2009 10:18 am Oh thats good, glad they are going to get onto it. Are they going to charge you for it? I'm going the Nougat bricks and my builder told me at colours that there will be a charge for getting rid of the green Grrrrrrrrr I told them that maybe they should put that on their standard product list next to the Nougat bricks that there is an additional hidden charge! Let's just hope it does as green is not my favourite colour I'm very sorry to see what troubles you're having, as few problems as we've had, it gets to be very disheartening sometimes, even though most of our troubles had nothing to do with our builder. We actually got to the point where we just couldn't be bothered to go and see if anything had been done just so we could get disappointed. I really hope they come good for you and do the job you're paying them for. As our builder told us before we even started, "building a house should be remembered as one of the best times in a persons life", it sure doesn't help when things constantly go wrong. As for the green bricks, did they explain the process to you and whether or not you would have to repeat the process periodically? Re: Dreamhome Enough is enough 96Oct 07, 2009 8:07 pm Eljay Oh thats good, glad they are going to get onto it. Are they going to charge you for it? Hi Eljay, They are not going to charge us to fix the issues as the issues are actually defects as per the australian building standards, our inspector's report refers to the different standards so they can't argue this. However, what i want them to bear the cost for the reinspection fees as we wouldn't have to do multiple reinspections if all the issues had been fixed at the preplaster inspection as we had been told. I can't believe they are charging you to clean the bricks. We are not being charged to get rid of the green. We are told it is common and it will come out, i don't believe you should be paying for this. I think there must be something about colour variation in the australian standards, you might want to call the building commission to enquire or if you are using an independent inspector, they should be able to advise you. It doesn't seem right that you have to pay for them to fix what should have been right in the first place. You bought Nougat bricks, not green bricks! I totally understand how you feel about not wanting to visit the block so you don't get disappointed, this is exactly how we felt. We kept feeling that we went there, we would find more issues. Certainly not something you should be worrying about, we should be excited about visiting it instead. They haven't explained the process in detail but they mentioned that they need to wash the bricks, and neutralise them.. Not sure whether this will have to be done regularly and if the green will return in the future. Thanks for pointing this out as this is a good question to ask them [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Dreamhome We've been plastered 98Oct 23, 2009 8:13 pm Time for an update. Lots of things happened since last week. We met with the builder a week and a half ago and we were told our SS has resigned. We now have new SS. Can't tell for sure how much better he will be but i guess it can't get any worse. The outstanding issues are.. well.. still outstanding but they can be fixed from the outside. So builder has agreed to fix them after they have started plastering and will send us pictures so the inspector doesn't need to inspect again. After numerous discussions, the builder has also agreed to reimburse us 2 out of the 3 reinspection fees. So.. we now have plaster and DH today said the kitchen cabinets and island were also in. I will upload some pics of the plastered walls this weekend. No pics of kitchen cabinets/island yet. The bad news is DH has been trying to get hold of CSR all week and he is not returning our calls (not the first time and not impressed). We want to know what is happening with the outstanding issues as we have not forgotten them!!!! Anyway, we've been told we won't be in before xmas (looks more like mid feb) so at least we know where we are now. Can't believe we've been delayed so much because of the issues. Fingers crossed we can contact CSR on Monday as i won't have peace of mind until all the outstanding issues are fixed. Then it will be time to do the handover inspection and another set of issues will make me stressed [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Dreamhome - NEW PHOTOS 6/12 100Dec 06, 2009 7:04 pm Time for an update! Since we've had the new site manager, things have been moving along nicely, we are so relieved that we have a new site manager. The cabinets are in and the walls painted (as well as feature walls in the bedrooms)..
