By the way did they have a good range eg: laminex colours & tiles @ prestart? Ohh yeah.... You will be so confuse, so many choices.. but the things is all builder are the same.. The tiles etc are to be selected before pre-start.. So best to do your choices earlier. You have European Ceramic, Crosby Tiles and Magic Tiles. And you can only have your selected tiles from one location. Once signed off the tile shop will send out the signed document to your builder. Make sure you get a copy. Once signed, no more changes... It will cost you if you change. So you will need to ensure you know what you want before signing... And all this before pre-start.... Re: BUILDING A NEW HOME IN WA 63Sep 16, 2009 10:50 am Thanks everyone! I am trying not to get too excited until my finance has been approved, we are going with keystart as I don't have much of a deposit & I have heard that they are pretty disorganised & very slow! But the way I figure it is.. the longer they take, the more time I have to save for upgrades at pre-start. I am trying to figure out a way to get more storage in the kitchen, as the only storage will be in the island bench & on the wall behind will be pantry, fridge recess & oven - thoughts anyone? Yep, I am also with keystart. They are slow... but still they will eventually pull through for you.. ( after a long wait and some frustration ) But still be wary of the contract you sign with builder and land. Noting that you are responsible for finance approval even if keystart is slow. You are responsible. So make sure the contract clause for the builder and the land is covers that.. Basically -Subject to Finance. I also wanted more space... what i did was extending my island bench. That gave me alot of space.. But depends on your layout. As I already had a walk in pantry, overhead cupboards top , bottom, and then the extended island bench. Cant think of anything else..You could add further cupboard all along the top of your fridge. But then I dont know how your kitchen layout is... Re: BUILDING A NEW HOME IN WA 67Sep 16, 2009 1:15 pm gez85 I am thinking maybe I should extend my island bench to make it an L shape or something like that? thats what I did.. Actually was my wifes idea.. Can I see your plan. But cost me for the upgrade.. As I needed extension for my Corian bench top with upgraded nightsky range colour, extended cupboards below and extended splashback. It cost me more than $2000.. Re: BUILDING A NEW HOME IN WA 68Sep 16, 2009 1:43 pm Cool the more choices the better! I am really looking forward to deciding on a colour scheme. Waranraz your kitchen upgrades sound really nice. I don't know if we can justify the extra cost of corian but its very tempting Its going to take them about 2 months to draw up some plans and give us a fixed price contract, we can't do prestart till after that can we? Here's a link to our plan, the zamia cottage http://www.impressions.net.au/realty/index2.php?option=com_cmsrealty&action=create_download&ID=83&file_id=40&type=listing are extending out the study and meals/living areas to the same width as the home theatre, because we don't need a zero lot wall. (I tried to post the image in photobucket but it wouldn't let me) Nice selection, looks wonderful. Basically prior to pre-start, you can do alot...Plan your tiling,(the tiling shops i mentioned earlier, your house colours (going down to Solver Display Centres), Clipsal electrical Plans(To plan your needs), on top of that you will get a pre-start book to do your pre-selection prior to the actual date. So on the day itself, it will last a whole day or just 3 hours.. pending on how well prepared you are with what you want.. Happy for you.. Re: BUILDING A NEW HOME IN WA 73Sep 16, 2009 4:49 pm Anyone heard of e-wire.... Further unexpected cost , not budgetted for.. I am told to install the free TV reception will cost me $300. and data points for internet will be $85. No TV aerial is allowed where I am building.. All cables are underground. So to run the cables to your main hub will cost me that much... I guess I better be prepared for other cost not budgetted for... Re: BUILDING A NEW HOME IN WA 74Sep 16, 2009 6:07 pm Hi... hmmm not sure what e-wire is... i'll check with my husband, he might not know. yes... always remember there will be additional cost. last week they told us, we must add an extra fire alarm, and a soak well.. infront of the house else the water will flow into the garage. total cost was additional $900+. then they offered us a new brick maker..which will give us a rebate of $250. so we took it! somethings have to be done, no choice really. Lucky you... I guess based on area... Its only for my installation cost. But the service is free. Not for internet though.. and you 6 mths free.. Re: BUILDING A NEW HOME IN WA 77Sep 17, 2009 11:29 am Area of discussion.. Home Theatre : Over head projector or Plasma/LCD TV . which is better. I opted for Plasma/LCD TV.. I feel Overhead Projector is more expensive and when the bulb expires it is costly to replace.. and bulbs dont last long. And also you need more cost in installation which includes screen. however it comes down to personal preference... those who want a cinema effect.. Re: BUILDING A NEW HOME IN WA 78Sep 20, 2009 3:11 pm I've attached my final layout. Finally got to do it.. Any comments... http://s889.photobucket.com/albums/ac91 ... %20LAYOUT/ When to my land , 3 land in that area has already start building, I am still waiting for mine to start..
