Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 04, 2009 2:48 pm Im surprised at how stress free it was! I think (hope) I made ok choices I chose a lot of 'safe' colours so hope all will be good bricks musket haze with natural mortar colourbond paperbark for windows/fascia/garage colourbond woodland grey for roof ice snow for kitchen/ensuite/bathroom benches laminex white for cupboards and Doe skin for backing/shading of kitchen stipple seal for laundry bench doe skin cupboards in ensuite and bathroom but white in laundry tiles are a very very closse match to the stipple seal with lighter carpet Heres the big question though! We had always allowed about $12k for hardwood floors in our hosue to do after handover. For "M" to do them for us in those 'click together floors (which are still hardwood) its 10k. Not sure what I should do!! For one we would be able to get our keys and just move straight in without any stuff arounds ( i like this idea) and we dont have the hassle of organising it and wrecking skirts etc as M wont just take them on. Or I dont know whether to just save the 10k and do tiles right through! I dont LUV tiles, and I worry about cracking grout etc but as the lady said, floorboards scracth and dint so it much of a muchness, however at least the marks blend with the boards??? I dont know, opinions on floor?? They are working the floorboards into the contract anyway so we can drop them after contract signing if we want. Re: picked my colours today! 2Nov 04, 2009 3:10 pm Oh and I didnt really upgrade much carpet $1200 (the carpet in the package was crap and i wanted a quality carpet, guess it will be worth it in the end) square basins in lieu of oval x $250 each (didnt see that one coming!) entry handle/deadbolt $150 longer handles on pot drawers brick to cat2 $750 electrical we added about $6500K But this included downlights throughout, dimmers/ $1k of extra p'points, external lights and powerpoints, digital tv dooby whacker thingy, cabling for tv/dvd etc, and 3 pendant lights of brekky bar (about $500) Re: picked my colours today! 3Nov 04, 2009 4:01 pm We are going to go with M too...and have the wood floors. I dont like tiles that much. We have allowed $12 to do this.I think we'll get M to do it as by the time house is finished we will want to move in and be done with it. Re: picked my colours today! 4Nov 04, 2009 4:08 pm Hi Makoby I got M to do my flooring with the trulock 4000 series in spotted gum, they went in a couple of weeks ago and IMO they look fantastic...so glad there done one less thing to worry about after hand over. I picked the floorboards over the tiles because I find tiles to be to cold in winter and floorboards are much more forgiving! I have attached a couple of photos for your interest. Makes me really want to go with the floorboards. My colours are very light and much like yours aswell except my benches are lighter and backing on island bench darker. I really love the colouring in the spotted gum as well. The qote she gave us was about $10k on the tallowwood. I loved the sample in studio m and thats the colour id hope for, but in the paper catalogue it looks kinds yellow? But not sure how much mpre the spotted gum would cost, especially since the $10k is so much more than tiles anyway! Re: picked my colours today! 6Nov 04, 2009 5:13 pm The spotted gum cost $9K, $109 sqm, but that was just over a year ago. I liked it because it goes well with the neutral colours as a feature. I did sacrifice the glass splashback and ceaser stone benchtops though! Re: picked my colours today! 7Nov 04, 2009 5:35 pm hmm, i think she said the tallowwood was 129$sq?? and I know the spotted gum is dearer, so good price! I got the caeserstone and glasssplashback in my package which i was rapped with cos I really wanted both! Hey. Head to a metal and decide on which profile you will use first. Profiles with larger corrugations can greatly change the appearance of the color in different… 0 3596 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34840 Hi all, I am currently building through Simmonds and stuck deciding on my exterior cement roof titles and brick colours.
