Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Prosperity ... driveway ... done. 601Nov 05, 2009 1:34 pm Thanks everyone for your kind comments... Nothing much has happened, still. I am trying to keep busy enough to not freak out that it's only 7 weeks til Christmas, not to mention the fact that it's the busiest time of year for us at work. I am hoping not to be moving in only a week beforehand as we are having Christmas lunch at our place this year too. Fingers crossed that we are in in time. Re: Our Prosperity ... getting extremely anxious now. 603Nov 05, 2009 2:55 pm Hey K, handover is supposed to be on the 8th so we are just assuming Monday the 9th. Mark tried to ring J the other day and he seemed too busy to talk. We are trying to just be patient cos W have been so good to us, but I feel all out of sorts not knowing... Your place looks fab. Saw g the other day at work and he seemed just as anxious as I feel . How are you going? Re: Our Prosperity ... getting extremely anxious now. 604Nov 05, 2009 5:19 pm Hi Fee, Moday handover sounds good I am quite over it at the moment, considering we were originally told handover would be tomorrow Now we have to wait another week. We were originally told the driveway would be down at the end of last week, then it was the beginning of this week, then it was meant to be yesterday and today. Well we got cut yesterday but not laid today. Then were told tomorrow and then the concretor said Monday. Everytime we speak to them it's a different day. That's going to be interesting considering the painters are going to be there at the same time and the gas bottles have to be there for Monday aswell. The concrete won't be dry to put the gas bottles on and the painters won't be able to paint the downpipes that are there I just want the damn house finished so we can move in. Re: Our Prosperity ... getting extremely anxious now. 605Nov 06, 2009 6:16 am It's supposed to be monday but it aint gonna be . I am thinking a week after Monday if they get heaps done. We haven't got carpet or anything done yet. Today is a not so fussed day for me. Life is so busy that I am just focusing on everything else atm. Hey I am sure that it'll be worth the wait K. It's most probably the rain that has been keeping them from doing the driveway. But I am sure if everything gets done according to plan next week, you are going to have a mad house with all the goings on . Chin up, you are going to have your house soon, and it's gonna be great. So close! Hopefully it doesn't rain so they can pour your driveway! Anti-rain dance time again? lol Re: Our Prosperity ... getting extremely anxious now. 608Nov 06, 2009 12:21 pm gkj001 Yep an anti-rain dance is definately required The hardest part is organising time off from work, it's not so easy !! Especially when the date keeps changing. Yep, I hear ya. So I've decided not to have time off, we don't get loading anyways and it's a flat rate, so I end up getting paid more to work. We are just going to have to do it in between... I hope it's all sorted soon K . Re: Our Prosperity ... getting extremely anxious now. 609Nov 08, 2009 7:03 pm I just wrote a massive big post explaining what has been happening lately and it deleted it. So, bugger that, here are the pics, that's all you want to see anyways . Timber floor pics 8/11/09 620Nov 09, 2009 9:31 am Oooooooh, beautiful, love it!!! ... but here come the questions What's the timber species, stringy bark? What's the grade? These must be the 13cm wide boards? Did you have to do any levelling of the slab? Or pretty much just lay the battens? Did you use some kind of moisture protection (eg. a plastic sheet) underneath? Is this all through a separate flooring company (ie. not the builder)? Are they going to sand&polish as well? What kind of polish will you use? Was the job pricey? How high are your ceilings in this area? Is there anything else I actually haven't asked (just joking with this one...) My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ...
