Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Henley in Melbourne 53Jun 19, 2007 12:31 pm FG - we had major problems like this with our builder M3tricon.
I ended up dealing with our site supervisors boss and then after awhile I had to deal the boss's boss in order to get things done properly. When our painter was doing the wrong thing, like only staining the outside of the windows ?????? I made him stop, got the supervisor on the phone and made the painter talk to him. You just have to take charge and basically supervise the job yourself. It's wrong, but don't trust them if you want it right. Good Luck with it. Re: Henley in Melbourne 54Jun 19, 2007 3:00 pm This type of stuff scares me.
I am building with Clarendon in Melbourne. Yet to get to the nitty gritty - just had the slab done on Saturday, and the wood has been delivered yesterday. The piers were done prior to the slab and I have a surveyor report saying the job was approved. But I do know the supervisor has quite a few houses on his plate, so I hope I won't end up with the same kind of problems. So far it's been great. Everything was pre ordered by the supervisor and is happening fast. Practically every day something is going on. But I will soon see if everything else is on the money. For example, things I am thinking about are ceiling height - I have upgraded from 2.59m to 2.7m. Will the tradies have the right info. I have no reason to think otherwise, but after reading this kinds of things re Henley and Me3con, it makes you wonder, doesn't it... Re: Henley in Melbourne 55Jun 20, 2007 7:40 am The thing is, our administrator (who is nicer than the first one we had) wont give us the supervisors number. Which i guess in a way is to protect the supervisor from getting harrased all day long, but had we had his number, we could have called him on saturday and told him what the painter was doing, and saved them both a bit of work.
Now we had a look at the house yesterday and are very happy to report that they have fixed the windows, and the paint colour is perfect. The skirting hasnt been fixed yet, but im sure they will fix that. Now hopefully they stay on the ball and go great guns from here. So yeah thats it for now. Oh also i belive one of the Henley guys is patrolling the board, either that or its a haox. But any hooo, i just want this damend house finished, with no faults and with everything that we wanted. Im sure ill be back to vent at some point. FG Re: Henley in Melbourne 56Jun 20, 2007 7:49 am oh i also have a question for you guys,
Im confused as to what henley considers a wet area. when they say they include tile skirting in all wet areas, wouldnt you think thats the bathroom, toilet and laundry? Because in our bathrooms they have put two walls with normal skirting and two without. Wouldnt you think the whole bathroom should be done in tile skirting? The toilet has normal skirting same as the laundry. Re: Henley in Melbourne 58Jun 20, 2007 8:15 am Hi
Wet areas are - laundry, toilet, ensuite & bathroom. Yes I would epect those to have a tiled skirting. The trades are nomads and have their own ideas - your supervisor should be on top of this. Ed If I write "I" please read "We"! Be good. Re: Henley in Melbourne 59Jun 20, 2007 8:47 am french_gal I tell you, if henley gets another thing wrong im going to fully crack the ****! Isnt it in a business best interest, that if they f**k up then they do everything to make sure it doesnt happen again? And make sure the customer is happy? Not henley. We didnt go see our house for a week because we were sick of seeing nothing done and when it was there was always mistakes. So when i went and had a look i almost died in shock to see that they had started all the cut in work. Problem is they have stuffed up the colour and have also painted our skirting boards the same fricking colour. Painter was there, told him and he replied with well thats what i have been told to do. He wouldnt stop and call henley to double check now would he. I am so frigging annoyed. I know that the building process is frustrating and stressfull, but this is just ridiculous. I wish we hadnt gone with them, i would do anything to not have to deat with them again! You gotta be carefull harassing the tradies like that, when we built some time ago, a person a few blocks down from us was harassing the tradies like what your doing and their builder threatened to stop construction if he put another foot on the building site. Technically you are not allowed on the building site until handover unless accompanied by a supervisor. Technically you are not allowed on the building site until handover unless accompanied by a supervisor. I am not Harrasing anyone. If the supervisor was doing his job right we wouldnt have to check the site every day. and we dont go inside the premises. You can see everything from outside. And as for only being alowed on the site with the supervisor, well lets just say that we have had only one site inspection with our old supervisor and have not even been intoduced nor been called by our new supervisor. We thought well we will leave it a week and not go see the place and when we went to have a look there was another mistake done. So as i see it, if i didnt go and see it till the end, then what would my poor little house look like. How many little mistakes would have turned into big ones? We dont call and harras our administrator, we send him a polite email letting him know what we have noticed, and then he gets back to us when he see's fit. No point calling him cause you can never get him on the phone. Would any one know if Henley Homes is a good Builder to use I seen many reasonable but also many poor reviews With so many builder going bust I thought they would be a… 0 311 I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 35490 It's all about wireless, self install now.
