Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 03, 2009 1:22 am Hello forum I'm just about to sign the contract to build the custom 5000 with redink homes. Would really like to know if anyone has built or is building a custom 5000 with this company and what there overall experience has been. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 2Jun 03, 2009 1:14 pm Sorry I can't help, but check how much add-ons or changes to the house are before signing anything. I am still waiting on the working drawings at the moment so have not progressed very far ahead. Was there any specfic information you were looking for? So far they have been pretty good. Cheers Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 4Jun 18, 2009 4:52 pm I am not. But I am interested to see how it is for those of you who are. They seem to have quite a bit included in their standard inclusions for a reasonable price. Cheers Just wondering if you got your plans back yet? We are about 99% going to build with redink, they still been OK? The impression i get is that the basic plan is cheap but they slug you for additions? Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 6Sep 14, 2009 11:12 am Hello! Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your land etc! My husband and I are building the Evolution 3000 with RedInk and I would absolutley recommend them. We found their add ons quite reasonable...the base price was $150,000 and we added/changed HEAPS of stuff - all the way up to high ceilings and we didnt spend over $170,000. We were pleasantly surpised by how much some of the add on's cost. Good luck with everything - I hope it all goes smoothly for you Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 8Jul 11, 2010 11:56 pm hi we are in the process. we have paid the deposit to get the plans drawn up etc. one tip for you, do as much communications as you can via email and keep them all. We had a few prices and other stuff change but glad we had the emails to show what was agreed. we are not that far along, we are waiting for the final draft of the plans to come back for us the check them over and with luck agree to them Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 9Jul 12, 2010 10:08 pm Hi Hangover, We sound as if we are at about the same stage. Our block has just been surveyed and redink have just recieved the report and we are now awaiting the new drafting plans to come through the mail. They gave me a 4 week estimate for that. How about you did they give you a time? We have made a fair few changes to the custom 5000 within the pre contract so most changes we wanted are drawn into our contract however i certainly prefer email to use anyway so i will hold onto everything. Thanks Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 10Jul 12, 2010 11:44 pm we have had out plans sent and returned, changed, changed back, they got it wrong, redrawn, back again blah blah blah By the sounds of things we are the exception it seems but we have been waiting months to get our plans, to be fair we could have been quicker returning the emails etc but we didn't want to be rushed. They seem to be in a hurry to get us to sign on the dotted line which I can understand but be sure not to sign until your satisfied with everything , this includes prices, once you sign the plans off you are charged for each amendment. We have made heaps of changes too. Our final plan we where told two weeks to re-draw, that was about three weeks ago. have you had your pre-start yet? Did you get the pre-start lever arch file? If you haven't ask for one. I was amazed at the high price of some things like down lights extractor hood and upgraded tapware this was compensated by the low cost of things like extra and bigger doors, extra sockets, and other things which where pretty cheap. forgot to say they stated 8 months from slab down Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 11Jul 13, 2010 12:43 am I built (and from what I am aware one of the first to be finished) the Custom5000. It was completed 6 months ago. Was very happy with my experience with them and would recommend RedInk any time. Any specific questions feel free to pm me. Built with RedInk Custom 5000 Key Handover 15/12/2009 Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 12Jul 13, 2010 4:53 pm Hi Hangover, Wow that doesnt sound to good at all. We wont hang on the four weeks by the sound of it. And 8 months from slab down seems alot. We built in the boom our first house and from slab down they had it built with 5-6months inside and all different builder though. I was hoping 6 months from slab down. We have not yet recieved the final plans we have on signed up to what e origanially changed. We havent had prestart yet. But we do have the red book. Have been through that. Do you know what it cost to upgrade the internal door handles to the ambassador passage leversets. What it cost to have a third laminate colour in the kitchen, to put a bench around the laundry sink, upgrade the pavers. They told us origanally the would rebate our evap air con as we want ducted reverse cycle for the kids. They said $3000 but that was over the phone. we were told to make all these changes at prestart. Hope it doesnt change. What are the down light worth and tv antenas and extra power points. How much would you say to allow for electrical. Sorry to pick you brain. It would just be great to put an estimate to our prestart costs. How do i put my plans that i have on here. I have seen others do that and i do enjoy looking at others ideas. Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 13Jul 13, 2010 6:11 pm I'l check out some of the prices we asked for later and see if I can answer any of your questions. What we done was to email our price requests to the sales guy who first came to our house and he provided prices prior to the pre-start. If you don't get prices before hand just ask for everything you want as an OPTIONS that way you get the normal price and what it will cost you to change from standard. You can then say that you can't make up your mind about XYZ and you'l let them know later. That way you can shop about and see how much it should cost and decide if you want to DIY or let redink do it. From memory, but I'll check and let you know, so don't get too fightened yet. re: evap I think we where given $2000 back, cudos to you if you got $3000 I think extra power points where $50, $60 for a double GPO, $100+ for external weather proof to put a bench around the laundry sink = we asked about that and it was something mental like $1200-$1600 so we decided to DIY later Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 14Jul 13, 2010 10:16 pm I have asked a few questions too our lady about cost and they just keep saying you will find out about that at prestart. I might try your second option. That would be great if you have any prices. As for the bench idea i think you are right it might be a diy job that is ridiculous. We have had some stupid costings too but are things really really want and think it will be too hard to diy it later so have just bit the bulllet. We have 3 custom 5000 being built in our same stage in our area so we have changed our front elevation so much that it doesnt look like the same house from the front but we are watching them get built. So far the got cleared really quick. Slab went down with in the week frames bricks sand a few days later but the brickies have oonly just arrived 6 weeks on and have taken a week for half the house. ( The weather has nt helped though) so i think that 8 months will be about right. Re: Redink Homes Custom 5000 15Jul 17, 2010 10:29 pm hey We are building the benchmark and so far its taken a little time to get to slab but they have been ever so nice and helpful. We are hoping to get a slab down by end of August but I think it may be middle of September the way we are going. Any questions feel free to ask.
