Hi guys,
Obviously we're building......
Should we install ducted vacuum or invest in a dyson????
Not sure how much he ducted would be but i know a dyson will cost about $1000.
Anyone had experience with either and want to share?
Thanks
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 2Jun 01, 2009 9:38 pm we've had our dyson for about 4 years and decided not to get the ducted vacuum as we're really happy with it. Its a bit tired now as with the new carpets there is lots of fluff but it can be cleaned quite easily and comes apart very well which is good for lego that gets sucked up. We got $550 credit for not getting the ducted vacuum which was standard. anthea Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 3Jun 01, 2009 10:36 pm we looked at getting ducted essentially because we are building 2 storey and did not want to cart the machine up and down the stairs. The quoted $3500 Our biggest concern was that the hose that attaches is ribbed and we did not it rubbing against the internal walls and leaving marks. A hose stocking may or may not work depending who you ask. So we decided to get 2 dysons instead. Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 4Jun 01, 2009 10:38 pm If you don't mind me asking, how heavy are these Dyson units? Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 5Jun 01, 2009 10:41 pm Depends which one you get bigred. Mine isn't heavy at all and it's the biggest upright. I love, love, love it! Plenty more opinions.... good and bad.... about Dysons here. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12129&hilit=dyson I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 6Jun 01, 2009 10:48 pm We had not even considered ducted because we thought it was too expensive but last week I was reading another tread on here about ducted systems and adding a vacpan and saw how affordable they are. Now ours gets installed later this week before the plasters arrive next week! We are getting ours independent from our builder and it is costing $1680 for a 3 inlet system, 12 metre switched hose (on/off switch on the actual hose) and a vacusweep (same as vacpan). It was the ability to add the vacusweep that was the thing that made the ducted system so appealing to us and also the noise factor because with ducted the noise is where the unit is located, usually in the garage. Abstarr11, you might want to track down the thread from last week and have a good read of that. Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 8Jun 02, 2009 9:43 am We've had our dyson for about 3 years and we absolutely LOVE it. But I'll still be getting ducted in our new house. Partly because I don't want to be lugging the dyson up and down the stairs. Also, while the dyson is fantastic at getting fluff and bits off carpet, it's not particularly manoeuvrable. I think I'd probably cause less damage on stairs, walls or door jambs with a covered hose than by whacking it with the dyson every time I try to pull it around a corner. Also2... the VacPan! I remember the first time I used it, I'd only done two or three rooms and the barrel had already filled up. That was my wake-up call. I hated to think how inefficient my previous vac had been. We looked at the Choice review on medium price range Dysons and they reveiwed the DS19 and rated it very high. Upon testing them at the store we tried the dearer upright, DS25 and just fell in love with it. Bought it home and could not believe our carpet had so much gunk in it. When its not powered it feels heavy but when its powered up it floats like Mohammed Ali! we are selling and moving to the coast, if you know someone who wishes to buy in Mernda Villages, please visit this link http://www.realestate.com.au/property-h ... -107083288 Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 14Jun 03, 2009 11:59 am i hate to sound stupid but i really have to ask. i know what a Dyson is... it's a vacuum cleaner. but how does ducted vacuum works? It sounds cool... if it works as how i think it is... sorry, i'm very very curious. i could google it, but it be nice to hear something from ppl instead of those nicely worded marketing information that makes things super nice sounding. Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 15Jun 03, 2009 7:34 pm I have just replaced my first Dyson after about 13 years faithful use. FANTASTIC. It was an upright and this time I got a barrell. It was on sale and I got about $200 off. Wait for the sales. If you have a 2 storey house, you could buy 2 Dysons at $800 each and have one u/stairs and one d/stairs, that is still cheaper than ducting and would save the lugging up and down the stairs. I will be building a 2 storey and was concerned about carrying it up and down the stairs. I think it will be fine and had this foremost in my mind when purchasing this time. The only thing that took me so long to decide on was WHICH Dyson to get? It has to be the best vac around in my opinion. I wouldn't consider anything else (allergy suffering family) and I would be kicking myself that the ducting didn't do the job like the Dyson. BUT...that's just my opinion. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 16Jun 03, 2009 8:21 pm We have two Dysons, an upright and a barrel. When we move, we'll probably retire the barrel to car cleaning and other stuff and get one of the new Radix8 uprights. Though, our new house has floorboards throughout, so I reckon our Roomba will do most of the work! Re: Ducted Vacuum Vs Dyson.....??? 19Jun 03, 2009 8:57 pm A robotic vacuum cleaner. It'll do all the vacuuming for you and the find its own way back to its power station and recharge it own battery. Search Youtube for pets and roomba. That'll keep you busy for a good part of the long weekend Trying this building gig one more time. The only animal that hides is the 40kg golden retriever. Go figure! Meanwhile, have you met Roomba's fantastically awesome friend, Scooba? Robotic floor cleaner! WIN!
