Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 01, 2009 4:45 pm Hi all I am new to this site but all the info seems great!! I am a first time home builder and have a block of land waiting for me to build on down on Hindmarsh Island SA. I am on a bit of a tight budget with this one and have around $160k to spend on the construction but dont require floorings in that. The block is large and the house design wont be restricted as the block is 26x38m I am just looking for opinions on what builders to look at to get good value for money and a nice size home for this kind of money, so far Fairmont and Kickinbotham seem to be the cheapest ones I can see. Re: What builder??? 2Jun 05, 2009 12:40 pm Be careful trying to get too much "value for money", some builders are just cheap and nasty, where as others may offer true value for money, you need to find someone you feel comfortable with that comes in at your budget, not just the cheapest builder on the market. Speak to many, many builder and do LOTS of research, you can never do too much research IMHO. Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20425 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9572 |
