Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 15, 2009 7:15 pm Ok here's a brief description of my problem. I signed the builders agreement and then(stupidly) realised I hadn't seen the plans. I then find out I don't have an enclosed garage which I told the sales guy I needed. Now he is saying that the plan has been submitted to council and that I can't change the plan. I havent signed any plans as I still havent been sent one, only by email. Can the plans be withdrawn from council to add the walls to my garage or is the sales guy ****** to me again?? Oh I havent even been to pre start yet! Building with Homebuyers Centre El Questro! Nope I havent received anything. Just got a copy of plans sent in email but not the final ones as I havent been to pre start. The sales guy has stuffed my house up on everything that I wanted and he knows it. I can't believe I was so stupid to sign the builders agreement without seeing the plans. He (salesman) put the pre start folder in front of me and I just got lost in the moment thinking about colours etc Building with Homebuyers Centre El Questro! Or you can send them amended plans including the garage (talk to council about this, it normally includes extra fees and some councils might not do this) Or you can get it approved and then put in a section 96 including the garage (costs about $600+) Where are you located? I called the council and asked them when my plans were submitted and when my plans would be approved. The guy was so nice and told me the dates. I had to wait a week for the knob to call me and tell me we had council approval, little did he know we had known a week and he submitted the plans later than he told us he would. I'm surprised if they would approve something that actually hadn't been seen by the owners. You should get the builder to pay for the extra council costs as they took plans there that you hadn't yet seen and signed. I assume you've called them by now though. What did they say? Ok seems the council havent seen the plans yet, salesman told me that I have to resubmit and it will cost $240 seems everything has a price with them. I got the plans in the mail today....(funny that huh) Oh salesguy also said that I might not be able to change the plans either. I need a blooming lawyer to come with me to every meeting with them and also listen to the phone calls. Building with Homebuyers Centre El Questro! So then you still can change the plans right? And not have to pay to resubmit something that hasn't even been submitted yet? Now you should go to the builder and tell them all this, and then tell them that as the council hasn't seen the plans, then you should be allowed to change them. Maybe you do need a lawyer?
