Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 30, 2009 3:32 pm Hi All, My builder is also doing my driveway. Where the council crossover is done in plain concrete they have done it at a slight angle so by the time it reaches the road it is actually past the light post (which is the boundary) by about 500mm. It doesn't show it like this on the plan and the block next door is the corner block with the house facing the other street so it shouldn't really bother anyone. I just don't want a problem down the track with the council or ifi have to sell. What do you think? Re: Council Crossover 2May 30, 2009 9:42 pm Did you get council approval for the crossover? It's one thing a lot of people forget to do... And it can cause great pain down the track... If council wish, they can pull it up at any stage, and only have to repair the 3ft wide "footpath" track, not the entire driveway... I think your council won't approve of the driveway "crossing" the boundary line...Put it this way, would you accept it if your neighbour had done this to you? Electrical Engineer... Don't hold that against me... And keen owner builder... Mainly the building part!! Re: Council Crossover 3May 30, 2009 10:39 pm Driveways / crossovers are self assessable if they meet with the specified criteria, so dont need council approval. (in brisbane anyway) But what you have described does sound a bit outside of the norm so could potentially cause issues. I would contact your local council, i am sure they will let you know if it is an issue. Maybe just mention it as if you were looking into it and dont give them your address. Dont want them coming round and ripping it up. Re: Council Crossover 4Dec 21, 2009 7:39 am Hi ok180 Your pics where so small i could not clearly understand if the driveway u have is stopping at the footpath or continuing over till the street. R u in queensland? I am in a similar situation. We where actually thinking of doing the driveway right up to the street, which means will have to cut thru the exisiting footpath. Becoz i think it looks better that way. We are in Brisbane and im not sure if i have to have council approval to do so. Will be speaking to the driveway guys when we get to it. My house construction starts only in feb/march next year. Thanks Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11033 We've had the offer of a short term tenant whilst waiting for CDC/DA home approval and demolition for our knock down rebuild.
