Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 26, 2009 6:05 pm Hi all, Can anyone recommend a good demolition company in Sydney? Does the demolition company usually organise the DA for the demolition? I have a 3 bedroom brick veneer house that needs to be knocked down in August. Bit of a shame really - the house is only 30 years old. The bathroom and kitchen are probably only 5-6 years old (Kitchen is white polyurethane). I intend on trying to sell kitchen and bathroom stuff on ebay or trading post if I can. I have budgeted $15k for the demolition - hopefully it comes in less than this Thanks, hills_builder Re: Demolition company recommendations - Sydney 2May 26, 2009 6:15 pm Hi! We've contracted State Demolition to do ours. They charged $12K for a fairly small 2 bedroom brick veneer house + separate garage + clearing the block ~700sqm. They helped us to prepare our DA but we still had to submit our own. We're in western Sydney. They've been quite helpful, but as we haven't yet demolished the house I can't comment on their actual work! Never argue with an idiot they drag you down to their level & then beat you with experience - Dilbert View Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19733 Contract signed 14Sept Slab 30Sept Bricks laid 1Dec Lock up 26Feb Keys 10Jun Re: Demolition company recommendations - Sydney 3May 26, 2009 7:53 pm Hi we used HomeForce who organised the contractor who happened to be City Civil. I will PM you with the details. They helped us by supplying relevant docs but in teh end we had to submit it all to council Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Demolition company recommendations - Sydney 4May 26, 2009 7:57 pm We used homeforce too. 3br with an asbestos roof. About $12,500. We found them to be very helpful. But be warned that the 5 days the demolition is said to take may not be in one go. Ours took nearly 3 weeks. That said, we were very happy with them. Re: Demolition company recommendations - Sydney 5May 26, 2009 8:21 pm We used ecodemo it cost around $10,000 for 2 bed full brick home & 3 massive trees. They did it so fast everything was gone on the 2nd day, they came back on the 3rd day just to tidy up. A friends brother had used them & he was happy with them as well. They filled out a report for council but I had to lodge the DA for the demolition. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Demolition company recommendations - Sydney 6May 26, 2009 10:17 pm Thanks for all the replies! Re: Demolition company recommendations - Sydney 12Jan 19, 2010 2:59 pm Southies ah well.........that's a different story. I feel your pain Im happier now lol. Just got a 2nd quote for 13k a few seconds ago phewww. Will get a few more quotes and go the cheapest option.....after all it is just demolition (what could go wrong???). I mentioned earlier that our quote was for 9K but we finally had the job completed it ended up being closer to 13K!! The quote was worded so sneakily that "removal of vegetation" apparently didn't include removal of trees and a few other bits and pieces weren't included which upped our price quite a bit. Not to mention it took almost a full month to complete the demolition! Our demo was a nightmare. Happy to share details on what to look out for if you'd like (oh, and who to avoid!!). Just be very clear about what needs to be done and be prepared to supervise their activities very closely. Some tips: - Confirm that 3-4 days is actually 3-4 consectutive days (not 3-4 days spread across the next month) - Check their insurance and Workcover license. - Agree a start date and then check 7-10 days out that they have lodged their notification with Workcover (takes 7 days to process). - Call them 1-2 days out and confirm (again) that they will be starting on time. A key indicator is when they intend moving the excavator to your site. - Cruise past the site at least once a day to check progress. - Make sure you are absolutely happy with the site before they remove their equipment and before you pay them the balance. Re: Demolition company recommendations - Sydney 15Jan 20, 2010 11:34 am I used these guys http://www.bassettdemolitions.com/ Very reasonably priced - turned up on time - did exactly as instructed - would definitely use them again.
