Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 25, 2009 10:50 pm I know this is trivial compared to what other people go through, but, none the less, your help would be hugely appreciated! Our house is ready for hand over - we had the final clean today and it all looks beautiful EXCEPT the chunk taken out of our kitchen bench and the dent in the sink! They've been covered by dust and masking tape up until today, so we haven't noticed it before it was cleaned. What would you do? We are really, really hoping to start moving in this week. We've given notice on the rental we're in and need to be out of here by Monday next week I'll phone our SS first thing in the morning, but it would be great to know what you think our options might be, or should be. Would you accept this? What can be done to fix it? Coral have been very reasonable about everything up until now, so I have no reason to think that they'll be difficult, its just the timing is a shocker. Any thoughts? Help please!! 2May 25, 2009 11:00 pm jellylegs, you know if you don't get it fixed you will be sh*tty about it forever...and ever...and ever... see what your ss says in the morning, when are you guys planning to move in? whether it gets fixed after or before handover, it needs fixing sorry jellylegs... 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Oh No! Help please!! 3May 25, 2009 11:13 pm The bank express posted our settlement cheque on Friday. As soon as we have it in our hot little hands we'll be organising hand over. Tomorrow hopefully. My house looks like a bomb has hit it with boxes everywhere, and I've abandoned any hope of getting my stupid uni assignment finished before we move Do you think they would fix it after handover? I think they'll have to pull that whole benchtop off and replace the lot. Re: Oh No! Help please!! 4May 25, 2009 11:17 pm Talk to SS - say you want it fixed but don't want to delay handover - if bench and sink have to be replaced that can be done once you are in the house, but get it fixed otherwise it will bother you..... Re: Oh No! Help please!! 5May 25, 2009 11:18 pm mmmm good point - and realistically it's better off done before handover - put the pressure on them, tell them it has to be fixed and it must be done by "this" date - sometimes it's hard not to be nice - but this is your beautiful diamond gloss benchtop jellylegs!! fight for it and your ss doesn't have to live with it - you do 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Oh No! Help please!! 6May 25, 2009 11:24 pm Get them to fix it before handover - I suspect they will do it as quickly as they can in this case. - this is what I'd do as they are most incentivised to do it before you pay them Alternatively you could ask them to provide you with a signed statement saying they will fix it within x days. This way they still get the money and they have to do the fix within a specified period. You can also include it in the post handover fix list, but if you do this make sure that you document these issues (with photos) and get them to acknowledge them before handover in case they later claim that it was done by you after handover. Re: Oh No! Help please!! 7May 26, 2009 10:45 am Good advice Purpleninja. That's what we were thinking we'd have to do - get it documented and get it fixed later. Thankfully, Coral are brilliant and are one step ahead of us! The kitchen guy had been organised to come and repair it before we'd even phoned this morning. They didn't know about the sink, but that's been organised to be replaced now too. Ah - sigh of relief! They've been fantastic all the way through, nothing has been a problem, so I really didn't doubt there'd be any issue with getting this resolved. Now - just waiting on the postie to deliver that cheque and hopefully, hopefully we'll have the keys to our house before this day ends. Thankyou so much ๐ I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK ๐ 2 7291 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits.
