Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 25, 2009 4:04 pm Hiya, I was just wondering, we are about to sign our PPA, and in our siteworks section, it currently says there is no allowance for Footpath Re-Instatement. Now I already know we are going to be having a footpath out the front of our house (its on the Estate plans), so I called up my Sales guy and asked him what the deal with this is, ie do they cover any damage they do? He's basically said, no if they damage it, we have to pay for the cost to fix it, which I'm not sure is entirely right? (Of course, fingers crossed there is no actual damage done!) Does anyone know? Should we have to pay for this, or should the builder be absorbing this cost, if there is damage done during construction? All advice greatly appreciated! Thx. Us or the Builder? 2May 25, 2009 4:25 pm We had to pay a fee to our local council that acts as a "bond" in case any damage is done to the footpath. The fee was about $2,800 and we get about $2,000 back in the end. There was something else that made up the $800 difference (council fees arghh!) Our footpath needs to be fully replaced anyhow as the driveway will be situated in a different spot to where it currently sits... so either way we will get our money back. Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20417 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9569 |
