Hi there,
After months of reading and drooling on this forum, I finally signed in. And now…I can use some help!
We are building NOR in Perth and have a problem with our rooftiles.
We chose the colour Barramundi in Oct. last year. When we saw the tiles 2 weeks ago at the building site, we were surprised by their colour. We took one tile home, and it’s a couple of shades lighter and greener then our sample!
So we went to a consultant of Monier and she admitted that the colours had been modified by the end of 2008. But…nobody told us…
We’ve called the SS to say that the tiles didn’t have the right colour, but the guys still had to continue by putting the roof on, and now, everything is finished.
As this is not the colour we wanted, we called Monier again, to ask if the correct tiles have been delivered. He said they are Barramundi…, like we wanted, and that the colour- difference with the old Barramundi is very small. However, they are willing to spray paint it, if we really want a darker tile. But NO new tiles.
As you can see on the picture below, the old Barramundi (1) is now closer to the Sambuca (2) then to the new Barramundi (3). The tile they’ve put on the roof is nr. 4. (I have to admit it doesn’t look so green on the roof, but it makes me think it might even be the Caper…).

Our monument gutters were supposed to be the same colour as the roof, but are a bit darker now. I still like it, but don’t know if I prefer a darker roof or not.
So my questions
- Do you think they delivered Barramundi?
- Would you prefer this colour, or the darker Sambuca (in combination with these bricks)
- Would you use the offer to let the tiles be painted? What are the (dis)advantages about this, anyway. (I can’t find much about it)
- Would you insist in getting new rooftiles? But what to do if the company keeps on saying NO?
- Would you leave these tiles, and ask for a compensation? (But like what? And with the roof company, or the builder?)
Thankyouthankyouthankyou!

PS. Are the pics too big?
