Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 20, 2009 8:58 pm Hey guys, Our builder needs to know our decision by tomorrow as they start bricking the garage on Friday. Anyone have the Austral Brighton and which mortar finish did you choose? We've seen one house with the flush finish which looks good but my wife thinks the raked look will look better, but I don't agree! Cheers, Bailey. Raked or Flush mortar finish with Austral Brighton 2May 20, 2009 9:03 pm I'm not using it, but most houses I've seen with that brick have used flush and it looks great. But, I'd only go flush if the mortar is off-white. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Help! Imageshack is being a cow so I couldnt give you a close up. White flush mortar would definately make the brick colour appear lighter too. Make sure you check out recent properties too as the shading can vary alot between batches. no coffee? no work!!! The Big M - PCI complete bring on handover Re: Help! I'm thinking of asking if we can get a more subtle raked finish, sort of half way between raked and flush if you catch my drift, maybe only about a 5mm rake. That way I'm compromising with the wife cause I think the bricks stand out too much. Decisions decisions...
