Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 17, 2009 10:29 pm i will be living in tarneit. how safe is it for a lady to catch the train to werribee ? if i have to work overtime especially. is it safe to leave the cars at the carpark there? Re: werribee line 3May 18, 2009 8:22 am I'd say that if you are happy to decide to live in tarneit in the first place then you should ok with the railway. Is there a risk of car being broken into at the station? Yes, but this is the case with just about all other stations. Re: werribee line 4May 18, 2009 9:05 am cococrunch dont worry. I have been catching the werribee line train on and off for 20 years. It's not too bad, the carpark is well lit at night and other people from the same train home will also always go to their car the same time as you. It will be fine. Re: werribee line 5May 18, 2009 9:32 am I catch the werribee train every week day, and i find its no worst then any other line, yes sometimes u get smart a* teenagers and some doggy looking ppl here and there, but ive not had a problem with it! the carpark as mention is well lit up, although l will warn u if u catch a train after the 7:51am, good luck trying to get parking! Just a suggestion, when l lived in Tarneit i caught the train at laverton, its a Zone 1, and depending what part of Tarneit ur in can be the closest station, this station is well lit too, and you have a police station on the side you would be parking on! Werribee line biggest problem is the 20mins btn services even in peak Re: werribee line 6May 18, 2009 9:56 am I catch the werribee line every weekday also and find it pretty good compared to other lines! I am near Tarneit Rd and drive up to Laverton station as it is zone 1. Only problem with parking on Laverton side of the station is there is not much parking atm as they are doing some works for a new footbridge, you would need to get there pretty early to get in the car park! But I have parked on the road for ages now, even leaving my car there until late at night and had no problems - having the police station there is a big help I'm sure! Re: werribee line 7May 18, 2009 11:13 am I'm currently living in point cook and catching the train in laverton station. No problems with me as well. I will be moving to Tarneit (Tarneit Gardens) hopefully this year and maybe still catch the train in Laverton because others are doing it. Re: werribee line 8May 18, 2009 7:33 pm haha thank u guys!! i was just worried after reading ppl getting bashed up at like 9 plus pm in the train! thats not even late Re: werribee line 10May 18, 2009 9:29 pm I catch the train from Laverton as well. Like the previous posters, you might have toruble getting a parking if you arrive at the station later than 7.45am but its safe. Police station close by and most commuters who park are all going to work just like the rest of us. You're never alone when leaving the train station or walking towards it. I'm going miss the Werribee line when we move to Watergardens (Sydenham) when our house is complete. Re: werribee line 11Aug 06, 2009 8:07 pm i parked my car at laverton station. last night my car was broken into( discovered at 7pm)..so did the car next to mine. as we were waiting for the cops to arrive ( which they never did)...a couple walked past and told us, it happened to her 6 months ago. having police station next to it doesnt help. by the way the police station is not opened 24/7. i drove all the way to werribee police station to make a report. and she told me..im the 4th person to report for the day...the first 3 cases of car broken into happened at hoppers crossing station. I assumed done by the same A**holes....i hope they will put up cameras at all these stations! seriously its annoying. it cost me $385 to replace my window! Re: werribee line 12Aug 06, 2009 9:11 pm Well I'm living in Altona Meadows at the moment (will be building in Tarneit) so I drive up to Seaholme and catch it from there. 4 weeks ago, my drivers side window was smashed in causing damage to the paint and window frame. My window put up a fight by the look of it. In total this experience cost me $1200. This includes the $500 insurance excess. I also lost a few things that were in the car (and no they were not visable, they were in the tyre well in the boot!) It took me 2 weeks to get the car back and today was the 1st time since that I've had the courage to drive the car back to the station. Up until today i have been catching the bus to altona and then the train. Was working out well, but found the bus drivers here pathetic! Worst bus drivers I have experienced in all the places I have lived. My point is - it happens at all stations, so having a police station near by, or good lighting etc does not make you immune Deposits paid 29/4/09 Land settlement 12/08/09 Build contract signed 24/08/09 Colours done 28/09/09 BLOG-http://www.eljaysbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: werribee line 13Aug 07, 2009 9:18 am Sorry to hear of the car break ins Cococrunch & Eljay, That's horrible I have a friend who gets off at St Albans and his car (not a new one i might add) has already been broken into thrice I am not sure whether having a police station close by lowers the incidence of car break ins? i.e. if there wasn't a police station around would car break ins be even more prevalent? 4 10824 Hi everyone, Looking for some advise.
