Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 23, 2007 4:41 pm Hi everyone
hoping someone here can help with his one. our home is almost finished contruction. We had an inspection just over 4 weeks ago and are extremely disappointed with the paintwork - lots of pinholes in the walls and you can also see the plasterboard joins in the walls. Our site manager tells us that this all passes Australian Standards as you can't see the pinholes when you stand 1.5m back from the wall and look at it in natural light. Some are more visible than others but overall every single wall in the house has these pinholes. At the time of the inspection i told the site manager that we were disappointed that the company would not fix these (i also rattled off a number of other problems we've had with them) - after this he did mark some of the walls as needing to be repainted. What i need to know is there an australian standard for this sort of thing? What else can we do to get this prob fixed. Thanks, Rose Re: Internal paintwork standards 2Apr 23, 2007 5:03 pm not sure about the pinholes but the standard is definate about "a level surface with NO visible joins" This is required in the Level 4 plaster standards which is for domestic and light commercial building.
So you shouldnt be able to see joins in the plaster! See if your contract refers to this standard - ours does. Standards are i think: AS2311 for Painting and 2589.1:1997 for plastering. These may be outdated so if anyone can correct this please do!! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Internal paintwork standards 3Apr 24, 2007 5:42 pm Hi Rose - Sorry, can't help you with the Standard.
My opinion is that if you are not a happy customer, and the pin holes are noticable, then hiding behind an Australian standard might be ok under the terms of the contract, but isn't very smart customer relationships. Ask for the standard number. Then at least you can do some research. Care to name the builder? Perry Building Standards; Getting It Right! Don't think they are designed for double brick. WA has a particular way of building and unfortunately that's the way a large amount of sills are finished. 3 7007 I believe this is correct. From the picture you can see the power was put in last so the electrician knew where the water was. Really it's a common sense issue more… 4 5156 2 8645 |
