Driveway and crossover You'll only get crappy builders range choices and it's far cheaper to get external contractor to do...it may also take you some time to choose what you really like...maybe you don't want to be rushed into a selection kirsada 2. Garage door Builder warranty carries risk on installation and operation kirsada 3. Air con You'll get a better deal from an external contractor kirsada 4. Letter box As for driveway kirsada 5. TV aerial You'll get a crappy aerial and installation...builders know nothing about about aerials...better to get someone who knows what they are doing kirsada 6. Clothes line DIY jobbo kirsada 7. Gas bayonet for gas heater 8. Plumbing for dishwasher Builder warranty carries risk on installation and correct operation mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: DIY or get Builder to?? 6May 17, 2009 3:36 pm thanks guys - very helpful. It seemed easier at first to just get the builder to do these things, but now I am thinking otherwise! With the driveway I would get quotes and then compare these to the builders quote at pre start. The other things are easy and probobly cheaper to do yourself after handover. Just make sure the pipes are connected to the toilets/washing machines correctly by the builder's plumber... Assuming the structure of your cabinetry is good then I would DIY everything as follows: - replace your counter tops entirely, - replace all drawer runners with soft close… 1 4782 Re my second point – yes exactly.
