I hope they don't paint over it.... I've sent an email asking if they are painting the wood and if so to not do it, we can stick varnish over it after handover. Re: mr smith&mrs_smiths building adventures-update pg9-Shelves 166Dec 09, 2009 8:22 am Mrs Smith - the painter called last week and said that he will be varnishing the shelves and french doors as this would look better than painting them!!! I can't wait to see the progress this afternoon when I get back, especially as the benchtops are expected today. Re: mr smith&mrs_smiths building adventures-update pg9-Shelves 167Dec 10, 2009 12:12 pm I emailed our construction coordinator and she said they were going to paint them - on that day too! But a quick call stopped that Here are some more photos as the cupboards slowly get in. Such great progress....I must say our builder has been very good so far based on the threads here. Can't wait to see more photos........... Re: mr smith&mrs_smiths building adventures-update pg9-Painted 176Dec 18, 2009 12:09 am I"m loving your kitchen cupboards mr&mrs smith!!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: mr smith&mrs_smiths building adventures-update pg9-Painted 177Jan 11, 2010 4:01 pm Thank you I'm waiting on Mr Smith to email me more photos. The tiling is done except in the kitchen (it was waiting on the overhead cupboards and bench), and painting is done (exect some bits are waiting on the second coat) and the bench is in which means the cupboards will be in soon too I'll post them when I can We've also layby'd some carpet, and will start looking at flooring and painting for after handover. We also will start on getting quotes for the security screens as I want to do that right after handover. We're still debating weather to go for the large grill type (which standards out, which doesn't look nice but might deter people more) or the one that looks like really think fly mesh (which looks nicer but is more expensive and they won't know until they are close to the windows, which I would like to avoid). One thing we also have to consider is that I hate how the colours at the front have come together! It's too white.... I'll get a photo to show you too Re: mr smith&mrs_smiths building adventures-update pg9-Painted 178Jan 12, 2010 12:26 pm Here's a couple of photos - I don't have the latest tiling photos yet (I have them ungrouted which looks funny). But here is our bedroom light (I took the photo so that's why it's so bad): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And here is a bad photo of the front of the house. I will get Mr Smith to take a better one for me so you can see what I mean by too white....: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We'll have some more photos later Re: mr smith&mrs_smiths building adventures-update pg9-Painted 179Jan 14, 2010 10:00 am I have more photos!!!!!! Here are some photos of the tiling! It's done everywhere but the kitchen! You can see what I mean that it looks too white, I don't like it. Someone at work suggested doing 1/4 the colour of the gutters/finial (which is Monument) to the rendered parts apart from the poles as it won't add any extras colours but will take away some white which is a good idea. I was thinking textured paint on the columns too as it's looking a bit funny with smooth paint ontop as they are sandstone (if that makes sense, hard to explain without seeing them in person). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also, yesterday we got the kitchen overhead cupboards and drawers put in: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And we got handles too which aparently are useful so we're excited about that: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also, if anyone has other ideas how to make the front look less white without adding more colours so it's a rainbow house I'll be very interested, I am unsure what to do..... But all I know is I want to get rid of more of the white. Oh and we'll be putting charcoal limestone in if it helps (so we can't really add more charchoal). Re: mr smith&mrs_smiths building adventures-update pg9-Painted 180Jan 14, 2010 10:12 am Whyever would you need handles on doors Mrs Smith!!!! hehehehehe That kitchen!! Wow!! I love all the cupboard space Tiling looks great also!! Great colour I'm sorry that i can't think of anything for the front pillars!!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Assuming the structure of your cabinetry is good then I would DIY everything as follows: - replace your counter tops entirely, - replace all drawer runners with soft close… 1 4784 Re my second point – yes exactly. And often it may take additional time if the manufacturer recommends no more than X meters… 3 5655 |
