Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 14, 2009 11:39 pm our land was settled sometime mid April... so our builder submitted application to the council for building license..... it was supposed to take 6 to 8 weeks. our of excitement i rang the council yesterday only to find that our application is just sitting aside because they dont have any details of our land on their system... does anyone know what that means? our land title was issued in end march... i hate all these things coming one after the other and delaying the whole process of building.... i am building in WA.. I would call either the council or the builder and ask as either should be able to confirm what it means. Re: land settled! but.......... 3May 22, 2009 5:06 pm After numerous calls to the land gate and the council, finally they have the land details in the system. now its going to take another 6 -8 weeks for them to process my building license application!!! I was supposed to have a house by dec ...now with all the delays and the horrid weather its going be delayed!!! Luckily you called otherwise it could have taken them much longer! Re: land settled! but.......... 5Jun 12, 2009 10:15 pm hi everyone, its been a while...... i know.... i am so annoyed with the whole process of "getting the slab down".. the saga of building license application approval is still going on.... the council has requested a soil classification report and a roof beam certification from the builder. And its taking the builder more than 2 weeks to arrange these documents.,... i so worried sick now, because if our slab doesnt go down by mid-july we risk losing the FHOG...... so far the builder has done nothing to get things moving.. i have to keep calling and emailing people everyday during my lunch hour to push things.... arghhhhhh......getting tired!!! Just to clarify with someone, as I understand the rule on the FHOG - you need to have your slab in the ground to be eligible and so, if it isn't completed by the cut off date you are inelegible to receive the grant? Given the boost extension until end of september and the grant until december, wouldn't you be OK tinfish as long as your slab is in by the end of september (december for a little less), which leaves alot of time?? Almost finished building the Ambrose + study villa with McCracken homes in Park Holme, SA. Only painting, stormwater, paving & flooring left then moving in. Re: land settled! but.......... 8Jun 16, 2009 5:09 pm Tommo - you just need to sign the contract before the cut off date. You will then receive the grant once the slab is down. For more info see http://www.firsthome.gov.au/ Re: land settled! but.......... 9Jun 16, 2009 5:38 pm Thanks Indigoclover, I just rang Revenue SA, as the wording on their website is pretty ambiguous and I couldn't find any direct reference to when you are eligible - but as long as you have signed a building contract by the end of september (for full) or end of december (for reduced) and then you begin construction i.e. put the footings in, within 26 weeks you will be eligible. Sounds like a reasonable timeframe - I thought I was going to miss out but should be able to get the full amount if I get moving. Re: land settled! but.......... 10Jun 28, 2009 11:36 am yes , so we had signed our contracts somewhere end of Jan09, and we received the FHOG approval letter. so the 26 weeks by which the footing has to go down is in July end for us...and our paper work has been in the council for over 10 weeks now... my builder said that they need another 3 weeks from building license approval to get the slab down... which means i need my building license right now..... that's y i m freaking out.. the reason for delays is that since the beginning of our house hunt, our process hasn't been smooth.. we had to change our initial land because of the site work budget blew out (40k), and the next piece of land we changed to didn't have titles...and we got our titles in end march ...land was settled in April...and building license was put in the very same day the land was settled... and now for the past weeks i have been waiting and trying to get people to move things along..only in vain.... i m trying not to stress too much over it... but as u all know its just too hard not to think Builder: celebration homes,WA Slab down:12-Aug-09 Plate High:21-Sep-09 roof complete : 22-Oct-09 lockup: 19-Nov-09 PCI : 16-Dec-09 Key handover : 22-Dec-09 Re: land settled! but.......... 11Jun 28, 2009 12:34 pm How stressfull, Tinfish!
