We would like to hold the contract off a little longer the get the extra money from July 1. But also we want to move into our house soon then later Mmmm I don't know...... Re: VIC BUDGET! 25May 13, 2009 2:11 pm As i am still living with my parents I am not fussed by the fact that I will be in my house a few months later, maybe actually a little relieved some more time to save money for furniture ect. However i called my sales consultant and she is unsure whether or not it will be possible to sign on the 1st July as we got our contract yesterday and was due to sign this weekend. She said that if i do i may incur all the price rises since initial consultation. However she has not said anything for certain she said to call back in 2 weeks! Oh yeah I never thought of price rises I wouldn't be suprised if builders use the grant to put the prices up. There are pro's and con's both ways. Well if you are due to sign the contract Saturday, and she doesn't expect you to call back for 2 weeks, then they are obviously not to fussed about sticking to dates. Re: VIC BUDGET! 31May 14, 2009 8:54 am kikin Those $6k extra would be for the builders....I reckon all builders in vic will raise up their prices.... So maybe it is safer to just continue how we are going and get the contract sign asap. There has been talk of builders having a price rise...... but no one knows when. Re: VIC BUDGET! 32May 14, 2009 9:24 am I contacted our builder yesterday and they were more than happy to put off the contract signing until July or later if we want. They probably have so much business at the moment it may be easier for them as well. Re: VIC BUDGET! 35May 14, 2009 12:07 pm Hi Everyone Just for everyone that is planning to hold off on the contract sign just be aware that the FHOG extension has only been proposed at them moment and the legislation has not actually been passed and implemented. You will notice on the table on teh SRO site that it states that the information is subject to legislative approval. I am thinking of holding back my contract too but just be aware that it is not set in stone and may still be reduced or knocked back when it goes through the reps and senate. Re: VIC BUDGET! 37May 14, 2009 4:44 pm I just gave the SRO a call to ask about when they think this extension to the boost will get legislated and her answer was 'your guess is as good as mine' . She told me that the original boost which was announced in Oct 08 has only just been legislated the beginning of this year. I guess all we can do is keep a close eye on the news for new developments. I heard that the opposition is try to block this new budget. Dont know whether they can do this? Also, I'm not sure whether they want to block the whole budget or just certain aspects of the budget. But I would assume that even the opposition could see how benefical this extension to the boost would help the housing industry. My builder has allowed me to wait util July to sign my contract to take advantage of this boost increase Idiots are fun, that's why there is one in every village! - Dr. House - Re: VIC BUDGET! 38May 14, 2009 4:55 pm Most builders would hopefully be aware that by allowing you to get the extra grant money, will be allowing you to spend it with them! If they don't allow it they are effectively only doing themselves out of extra $$$$. Mmmmm... over priced upgrades....... if only I lived in VIC! Coming back to your old stomping grounds, huh? Renovations on a budget can be quite the journey. It's like giving your house a new lease on life.
