Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 12, 2009 4:36 pm Hi guys, we recently chose our new tiles for our new home, and it has been added to our variation and it is signed. My question was we have tiles through out the whole house except for the bedroom and ensuite we chose a creamy colour tiles for kitchen, living, loundry and toilet and a grey colour tiles for bathroom, ensuite. So that means we got 2 different tiles, does it really matter? would it look funny, im getting worried now. Thank guys. building a new home!! Re: Tiles question? 2May 12, 2009 4:41 pm Not at all, Many display homes often have different tiles in different rooms to create all sorts of design effects. Do the tiles match?? Even if they dont, contrasting tiles can look great. The only time you need to be careful is when the two tiles join. eg bedroom and hallway tile. If they are contrasting colours they look fine. If you are trying to match shades of cream (for example) it can look a bit funny though. As long as your furniture and decor in the room match with the tiles and it all looks like "it belongs" there is no issue with diff rooms not matching. We are having 1 colour tile in the ensuite, a different one in the bathroom, and a different one throughout the rest of the house. It gives character!!!! If its only the bathroom and ensuite that have them. It will make a big feature out of those rooms. I think it sounds good!! Have you held the two diff tiles up together. Do you like the look of them next to each other?? Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! I went to most of display home and do see same colour tiles through out the whole house include bathroom, just thought i have chosen is a bit odd. But some display i notice in the ensuite is fine to have different colours because the room have a carpet it kind of separated, if you know what i mean. sorry about the confusion. building a new home!! Re: Tiles question? 6May 12, 2009 5:09 pm No probs at all. I love it in display homes when the bathrooms are a different colour. I think it gives each room so much more character.. Dont stress!! a lot of people second guess themselves cos they have chosen something "different" but as you said the tiles give a nice contrast.
