Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Metric0n First Homes 2Apr 21, 2007 11:10 am We asked about these (although none suited our block) and were told that they are a fast-tracked process aimed at first home buyers that don't want the hassles of picking and choosing everything, etc, etc.
Apparently they go straight to contract (no initial deposit stage) and the inclusions are basic (as in they aren't included with the Mstyle or current promo) but you can upgrade if you want. I was told that their standard range is more limited than with a regular house (as in there are say 4 colours to choose instead of say 8 in the builders standard range). I guess being aimed at 1st home buyers they would find a lot don't have the $ to upgrade much. I think they are a great idea and probably would have gone for one if it had suited our block. As far a quality, I assume they would be of the same standard as the regular range as they would use the same contractors - just maybe not with the same inclusions. Second Time 'Round Re: Metric0n First Homes 3Apr 23, 2007 9:50 am We've just put down our $1000 initial deposit on a Metricon First home - the main difference from their other homes seems to be that you can't make structural changes so it is a bit of a fast-tracked process, but you do get to choose most of the finishes, just as with their other homes. We do get the current MStyle promotion (with a couple of exceptions, eg we don't get the upgraded front door, but we do get the higher ceilings, kitchen appliances etc etc), although I have heard that from now on you have to pay extra for the promotion - not sure about that, we got it for free. The one big restriction we've found so far is for floor tiles - we were initially told by the sales consultant that we get to choose from the same standard range as other customers, so they've now agreed we can choose from that standard range, but normally you only get to choose from five tile colours. As for the quality, I'm assuming (hoping) it'll be the same as their other houses... Santorini 4Apr 23, 2007 10:24 am Hi There,
I'm currently up to lock up stage with the Santorini 29. I did make structural changes which only meant I wouldn't have house finished as quickly. I was very happy with my choices other than the tile choice, this was five colour boards which included all floor tiled and wall tiles for wet areas. I had ideas on what i wanted and it came as a bit of a shock when the five choices were nothing like it! I have spoken to sales guy and he said to contact tile place and see if I can make some changes. I will keep my fingures crossed in this. I also upgraded to the timber front door and timber feature stained doors throughout as like the display home. So far very happy with progress and quality. Re: Metric0n First Homes 5Apr 27, 2007 9:04 am Hi,
We are building a ******** First Home. We have just got settlement on our land so hopefully the start of build won't be too far away! We were more than impressed with the designs of these houses (obviously!). The room sizes were larger than some of the other "complete" home ranges with other builders. We were also given the mstyle promotional upgrades for free. These are great, higher ceilings, wider architraves/cornice, 900mm cooker & hob, upgraded tapware etc. We were very happy with this. We went to 501 and were pleasantly suprised by what was given as standard - and the fairly minimal cost for any upgrades. Our big change was from the incuded carpet - we have upgraded this to something we liked (and that won't wear the kids knees out!) We had no problem putting things like light fittings/plug points etc where we liked, you just can't alter the plans (internal & external structure) - but again this suited us fine as the Hayman is perfect for us. As for standard of build? We are not aware of any corners to be cut to make this a "cheaper" option. The only thing is that the First range is very new, so there are only a couple of show homes (not a Hayman ![]() ![]() Re: Metric0n First Homes 8May 01, 2007 10:55 am Hi there
My fiance and I are looking for suggestions on first home builders in Melbourne. We've been looking at some display houses but are still not sure. The builder I liked the most so far was in Taylors Park. Their site is http://www.residenthomebuilders.com/ Any suggestions will be of much help! Re: Metric0n First Homes 9May 01, 2007 11:29 am Hi Juliam,
Check out http://www.carlislehomes.com.au I hear they have some display homes opening over your way shortly.... Matt Re: Metric0n First Homes 12May 23, 2007 11:39 am ![]() Names are changed for legal reasons. I am currently building M3tricon First home. Oh okay. It's silly really because all that tells me is that obviously bad stuff was put on here about them which led to some sort of legal action. Very strange if u ask me. I hope you do okay with them then. Best of Luck. Re: Metric0n First Homes 13May 23, 2007 12:33 pm As previously stated, I am in a M3tricon home, and love it. Everything went smoothly, and the finish is great.
Hope all goes well for you too. As for the M3tricon postings, there are reasons for it, and that issue is closed. I have posted the background on the forum, and a reminder regarding comments people make must not be defamatory, and must be backed up by the poster. Adrian B I was a contractor for first avenue homes and can confirm that a lot of their clients end up taking legal action against them. I know of numerous tradies and clients… 8 7264 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 8283 Maybe.
