Hi all,
I have got a quote from my builder for 30 course ceilings, does anyone know how tall that is in feet? The quote was for $5,500
Cheers

Re: How many course in a feet? 7May 11, 2009 9:33 am Does seem a little pricey. There is a thread on high ceilings here and some people have posted their builder quotes for the additional height. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17899&start=20 Re: How many course in a feet? 11May 12, 2009 6:54 pm If you go higher and have infill not brick over the windows, I guess you get say 6" more of that rotten infill to look at. Is this correct? Is 1 brick 3" high. So 6" more hight is 2 bricks. Im actually considering adding 6" to the ceiling, but as Ive got infill I dont want to draw attention to it. So I guess I could go 1 brick under the window to lift it up thats 3" and have 3" more of infill. Is this correct? Thanks KW............ Re: How many course in a feet? 13May 12, 2009 7:49 pm Helyn Not sure who you are building with and what they charged you for the upgrade. But as I understand it, cement sheet (csp) over the top of the windows is standard for most builders. I have 8'6" ceilings as standard with infill. They want 3k more for the 6" to make it 9'. But I don’t think it includes the brick over windows & a steel lentil. In fact I will bet it will be cement sheet infill over the windows for a 9' ceiling. However I may be wrong. May be you get brick over the windows with 9" ceilings. Any one have 9' ceilings with cement sheet infill over the windows? Helyn are you sure, is it in the spec. May I ask how much it all cost? Please PM me if you like. I asked about brick over the windows and it was about 2.5k more with the standard 8’6” ceilings. I don’t think it will be included for me. Steel frames if that makes any difference Sorry I cant be of any more help Re: How many course in a feet? 16May 12, 2009 11:01 pm Good one Helyn I was thinking you are still in the build process. Lol Sounds like you got a good deal on the brick over & the 9” ceilings. I guess if you go with a cheaper builder this is where they make up their money. I hope you got what I ment from my first post, as I’m sure not all 9' have the brick over. I like the brick over the windows it makes it look complete, the infill looks and is a cheap way out. But Im over budget already. Any way thanks for the reply. Regards KW………. “It's just as unpleasant to get more than you bargain for as to get less” George Bernard Shaw. Have look at your house plans and you will probably find that brick articulation joint has been missed. Maximum allowable spacing is 6M or 5.5M for a wall with window… 17 20615 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
