Of course some one in your industry would say that. For some people smart wiring is definitely worth it. But for some who are paying $1000 + just for internet and TV use, it is not worth it. Moved in December 2010 Re: ANYONE BUILDING IN LAURIMAR ESTATE 23Jul 01, 2009 10:49 am Cleishy has a point there. With developments in technology this type of technology might be outdated quite quickly? But with the government's history and Australia's reputation in terms of keeping up with IT infrastructure, we cannot rely too much on Australia being at the forefront of other technologies. It could take years before any other rollout of different technologies (including wireless). If I wasn't streaming HD video from my PC to PS3 or transferring lots of large files between devices then wifi would work fine for me if all I was doing was surfing the net. But for me Smart Wiring is definitely beneficial for me. Re: ANYONE BUILDING IN LAURIMAR ESTATE 25Jul 05, 2009 9:04 pm Hi guys, I think we are all getting off point here. The fact of it is Laurimar Delfin has paid around 4k a block to provide FTTH in order to ensure we are able to get internet. I currently live in South Morang Hillcroft, it took me nearly 8 months to get internet and I'm one of the lucky ones, most of my street still doesn't have internet and it is unlikely they will for quite sometime. There's a lot of talk about internet network rollouts and that will come true one day but the focus of those rollouts will be for areas that do not have an ADSL enabled exchange, the annoying thing here almost all new estates reside within an enable exchange it's just the way the estate connects to the network that limits the internet connections. I am building in the Briars and am very greatful to have FTTH. The whole debate about smart wiring has got a little out of control, the real issue here is about price, there are several people going around trying to force starserve and other hubs on people simply to jack the price up, now don't get me wrong, having a hub can serve a great purpose if you want to be able to tech your house out, but for most people all that is required is basic smart wiring which should cost well under $1,000. Check out www.smartwiringaustralia.com.au Anyway, remember whilst some people may get away with breaking the rules, and whilst builders are either shrugging their shoulders or trying to price gouge, at the end of the day FTTH provides you with the fastest internet AUS currently has to offer, you also get Standard and HD TV, and if you do it right it does not cost much to have! Nat Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24807 As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 17848 |
