Re: Building a Wisdom Manhattan 42(51).....bricking + picfes 23May 25, 2010 10:24 pm Hi pedro.lyn.josh, Congratulations on building the Manhattan - it really is a nice design. You are most welcome to follow my blog and ask as many questions as you like. So far we have been very happy with Wisdom. I think the key with building a house is to always have realistic expectations. It does not matter who you build with - there is always going to be some mistakes, complications and plain old frustrations. We expected some problems - and many that did arise were due to our complicated site. But overall, Wisdom have exceeded our expectations so far- and I am hoping they continue to do so. We have a great repore with out Site Supervisor - which certainly makes the build process smoother. He is always happy to help and fix/change things if necessary. Building the perfect home takes lots of time, research and money. We always remember that even after our house is finished contruction - it will likely take another 1-2 years before it is exactly as we want. Landscaping, furniture and internal fitting take a while to finalise and get right. There will be times you get frustrated for sure - especially in the interim period in between tender sign-up and actual contruction starting. Some of those admin tasks just take a looong time. But stick with it and try to be patient. We are about to start plaster work. There is just the last bit of the roof to do - which keeps getting delayed due to this darn rainy weather. As soon as that last section of roof (above garage) is completed - insulation will be thrown in and plaster started. Who would have thought this house building jig would take up some much time!! Anyway - our house is nearing completion now. Only a short few weeks to go. I have updated the blog with all the latest goss and pictures. Take care, hills_builder Re: Building a Wisdom Manhattan 42(51).....nearing completio 26Jul 19, 2010 9:49 am hi hills, your house looks awesome you must be so excited for handover now. the kitchen looks awesome. I was wandering what turned it into 51? was it the extra garage? I have decided to go a different way now and design my own home. the run i had with your mob didnt go as lets say smoothly as yours has. I am happy with my decision to my own as im now able to have a 45sq homea little cheaper than the 36 i was looking at. i cant wait to see yours finished i hope its smooth till the end for you and family best of luck. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=37134 THE THREAD https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35962 THE BLOG! http://pedrosinspiredbeauty.blogspot.com/ BRICKS BRICKS ARE FINISHED... We can't wait to move in!!! Pedro - we kind of supersized the house is a few different areas. We added 800mm to the entire length of the house (which lengthened the kitchen, home theatra, bed 4 and walk ins). We also legthened and widened bed 3. We added a 3rd garage - plus made all 3 garages 600mm deeper. We also added the rear balcony. All these items moved it from 42sq to 51 sq. By the way - I hope your build goes well! Oh i wanted to ask you.... are you going to leave it face brick? We always thought we would render and paint the front portico/balcony only. But we love our bricks - and thus have now decided to wait until landscaping is complete (grass, driveway etc) and see what it looks like then. If after landscaping the brick is too overpowering we will likely render the portico then. On the build front we are now about 2 weeks from PCI and 3-4 weeks from handover. The main floor tiling is completed - and the team are just finishing off the final coat of paint today and tomorrow. Thursday all the shower screens and door handles are being put on. House clean is booked for Tuesday next week - with carpet a few days after. We are hoping for a PCI the end of next week or start of the week after. Regards, hills_builder Re: Building a Wisdom Manhattan 42(51).....PCI complete! 30Aug 05, 2010 4:20 pm Hi all, PCI was completed this morning. No major issues uncovered - just a whole heap of paint touch ups mainly. The bottom floor has not actually been cleaned yet - so I am going to have a 2nd walkthrough with the SS next week to ensure nothing was missed. I will also add a whole heap of pictures next week after the final clean. Very excited now as Handover has been booked for Tuesday 17th August! We had handover on the 17th August and moved in on the 20th. Lots of pictures on the blog. Regards, hills_builder Re: Building a Wisdom Manhattan 42(51).....Handover :)) 33Aug 30, 2010 6:54 pm Hi hills_builder, Just been to your blog and enjoyed viewing the different stages of your building process. Congrats on moving in! I am hoping to be doing the same in a year's time. My journey iss only just starting. I have to pick a builder very2 soon (hopefully this week). Being my first time building, this is a steep learning curve. The more display homes I see, the more builders reviews I read and sales guys I talk to, the more confused I get. I have stopped seeing any more display homes and decided to short list a handful of builders. Depending on who I talk to I get opposite advise. Yes, ultimately it is up to me, go with big builder or small one. Apparently a safe bet is to stay with big builders. They have a reputation to maintain and will not try to hook wink the customer. Is there some truth in it? Ok, I am a bit undecisive. Wisdom and Casaview is in my short-list. From my research and reading this forum, it seems like Wisdom has become a popular builder. I can barely find any reviews / feedback on Casaview. Is this an ominous sign to keep away from them? Anyone who are building or have build with Wisdom, can you advise if - Wisdom home ended up costing any more to build than any other house you compared with? - What are the pros and cons of building with Wisdom or Casaview?
