Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 06, 2009 9:30 pm Picture attached is wall frame between bathroom and hallway. Bathroom area is set down approx 35mm. Part of the lower rail in the photo (where the door will be) will be cut off. That rail is 75mm wide. So, the setdown area is about 95mm too big. At the top of the photo, you can see the builder using pieces of cement sheeting (red facing) to prop up the frame. This is actually where the shower will be. So, question is ... would you accept this? Any comments? TIA. Saying that, all this stuff will get covered with wall linings, waterproofing and tiling. What I would be concerned with is: The builder is setting a precedent for the construction of the building. I would be saying, 'OK, that looks * mate, but it will get covered so I'll accept it this time, however I will not accept the same standard of construction for the waterproofing and final finishing of the room...lift your game!' Just a thought, Pat. Re: Wet area set down - would you accept this? 3May 07, 2009 1:25 pm this is the type of workmanship i've been told to expect if you build with W&M. like pat said, this stuff will get covered over, but i'd be watching the rest of it like a hawk Re: Wet area set down - would you accept this? 4May 08, 2009 1:02 am Like Pat said you set a precedent. You have a right not to be happy and to be concerned. “It gets covered up” may be OK for the builder, you tend to hear that a lot when your building. If it’s not a structural problem then OK this time but definitely make a point of it to the builder or site super and tell them you’re not happy or you will see a lot more of it.
