Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 05, 2009 9:36 pm My house was given a Cetificate of occupancy on 28 feb inspite of some of the works not completed.(eg drainage in front of the house, window alignment to name a few). The remaining works are coming to an end by 15may.THe builder says the 28 feb is the practical completion date and is the completion date. I believe it should be 15 May as HIA contract have only completion date . This is mainly for liquidated damages. Any suggestions? Re: Completion date and LAD 2May 06, 2009 10:56 am I don't think PCI = Completion/handover I am not sure when should the occupacy of certificate being issued, but if the handover process hasn't been done, if you have not paid the final payment and have not moved into your house, then the house is still belong to the builder and they shoudl still need to fix whatever defects as per the contract period, if over, then they have to pay the penalty fee to you Unless you have done the handover then it may be a completed different story I had my PCI done back in March, but handover is only scheduled for today since there are too many defects need to fix. My contract completion date is this Friday, and that's why the builder want to hurry and have the handover done today, otherwise they will have to pay me.
