Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 05, 2009 9:22 pm We've just received the draft of the final bill and so far there are approx $12k's worth of "additional variation" costs - for which we have but a scrap of paperwork for 2 of them. Now sure, there's some things like power usage, or final costs of provisional items which I can tolerate, but there's references on there to costs that VicUrban are now passing on to builders (like Fibre optic hardware) that we didn't have when we signed up that now they're trying to slug us for. Sure, I'm completing my BACV Domestic Building Dispute as we speak (while I wait for your responses) for these builders but has anyone else, especially out at Aurora, had all these costs put on them as well? Surely they should have issued Variations to the contract for all these things? Re: Final added costs exceed $12k, building at Aurora Epping VIC 2May 05, 2009 10:40 pm We will be building in Aurora, I would have thought all Aurora covenant and requirements are included in the house price. Can you tell which builder your dealing with or PM me please? I hope it is not the one starting with Z. Re: Final added costs exceed $12k, building at Aurora Epping VIC 3May 06, 2009 12:55 am It's unbelievable - the day before we settle, and it's, "Oh, by the way, you owe us an extra $12 000." Because we have that just sitting around. We had figure on about $3000.00. Here is an example of what they have hit us with: VicUrban Network communication service box cabinet - $1210 VicUrban Optical Service fee - $880 Yarra Valley Grey Water Inspection fee - $309.76 Yarra Valley Grey Water Meter - $383.85 Huh? You sign the contract expecting to get all the services connected as part of the contract price (no indication that anything wasn't included) and then this...$2000.00 of additional, unexpected and very last minute costs to get the phone connected! Potable water is included as part of the contract, but Class A recycled costs you $700 to put a meter in and have it inspected? If you are out at Aurora, or thinking of buying out there, make sure you consider this or ensure it is in your contract. Our builder isn't taking on any new work out there anymore (not sure why)... Re: Final added costs exceed $12k, building at Aurora Epping VIC 4May 07, 2009 11:16 am Update - pleased to say that costs have shrunk to $4,500 - and hopefully dropping further still... thanks in part to the 3 months' worth of liquidated damages.
