Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 05, 2009 12:15 pm Hi All I had my handover inspection mid last week. I got Mr "K" to do the external inspection. The good part was there was not major changes - few areas where cieling going slant which bulider was happy to change, smudges on wall, towel rail slant and mortar to be cleaned and put in few places , bulbs to be replaced etc. Nothing big/major - thankfully ! Now comes flipside. After K finished inspection we asked him to show us what the major defects were so that the builder could start working on it. The rep of builder mentioned that they will work through items quick and will look at settlement on wed/thursday. Mr K said he will accordingly send report on Monday so any leftover items in report can be worked on. We made payment on inspection day itself and come monday (yesterday) - no report !! I have been following up on call/ email /sms to K and his PA yet no one has bothered to reply or respond. Its tueday midday and still I have no report ! My builder is following up with me, settlement is tomo and yet no one sent me report. What do you suggest I do ? regards nonie Re: This is how my inspection went.. 2May 05, 2009 2:08 pm Here is the update.. After repeated ph call and email to request the report, my hubby decided it was enough. We wrote to them - thats it - no report so we want refund! Now at 2 Pm finally "K" bothered to reply back with report. I must say - HIGHLY unprofessional attitude and beware to anyone using service. Imagine I have my handover tomo and our builders had got contractiors to work onsite yesterday & today - jsut so all items can be covered and this guy did not bother to send report or even for matter respond to emails. Pl make sure you dont end up paying him before hand !! pay only AFTERRRR you get damn report. Now am running around trying to contact my builder for him to take look at report n see how we can cover off items. V frustrating and I give ZERO marks to K. His unprofessional behavior jsut has put us off and spoilt the joy of getting home handed over ! Re: This is how my inspection went.. 3May 05, 2009 2:08 pm First of all... CONGRATULATIONS on settlement happening tomorrow, how so very exciting for you!! I can't wait until we finally get there... In terms of Kevin... hmmmm... i can't think of what else you CAN do?? it sounds like you've tried every method of contact you can?? I would call every 5 minutes on all his lines until someone finally answers and leave 100 messages and emails but thats just me.. I would also keep reminding in each message that settlement is meant to be TOMORROW and you have no report which they promised to you a day ago.. and to call you back urgently.. I don't have very helpful advice but i would just keep contacting them about it in every way possible!! Samira Re: This is how my inspection went.. 4May 05, 2009 2:13 pm i must of wrote my reply just before you wrote the update!! how horrible for you, i have noticed how people say how incredibly busy he seems and that they have trouble contacting him but then there are so many people who highly recommend him aswell.. but in my opinion - not being able to contact someone after two days of trying would definately ruin it for me.. kev definately seems too busy for his own good and seems to need extra help =/ try not to let this spoil it for you, i know thats easy to say but once it's handed over you can try and put all this stress behind you and just look forward to enjoying your new home!!! good luck with everything with the builder.. who is your site supervisor?? Re: This is how my inspection went..BEWARE !! 5May 05, 2009 2:34 pm Thanks Samira Good to have neighbour like you!! Its just been so frustrating trying to keep calling him as well as his PA with no reponse ! I think he has taken on more work than he can handle. He can be busy but i refuse to believe that 2 days of following up and he or his PA has no time to repond or deliver item, in this case report on schedule. Completely pathetic experience and waste of money if you ask me. And more than that the tension and following up. I will seriously recommned fellow forum ppl to beware and look for other inspection who can spend good amount of time and dont behave in this manner. Re: This is how my inspection went.. 6May 05, 2009 3:15 pm Its disappointing to hear that K is treating customers that way. He has so many raving fans here that it would be a shame if had to recommend someone else. I know his website has been down for probably 2 months now as well. We have him booked for our walk through in 2.5 weeks so hope goes smoothly. Dale. Have sent them an email and will report back. http://www.finalinspect.com.au/index.php Dale. I was considering Kevin but may look into other companies to do my inspection. Re: This is how my inspection went.. 11May 05, 2009 7:26 pm Sorry to hear about the trouble you went through otherwise what would have been a very exciting time in your life. Unfortunately I had exactly the same experience with Kevin ... I reported that in the forum at viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15005 ... which you had read it ... Re: This is how my inspection went.. 12May 05, 2009 10:43 pm Cascade Sorry to hear you had same horrid experience ! I wish too i had read your post and not wasted time n money going through him ! I really do hope that others donot face same unprofessional behavior. better to ensure you pay only after report is delivered, or better still find someone else who is interested in doing proper wk for you !! Re: This is how my inspection went.. 13May 06, 2009 4:31 pm I have heard back from Final Inspect and their cost for the handover inspection is $895. They didn't itemise their fee but imagine this cost includes some travelling as Gisborne is 50Km from city. Dale.
