Re: Tips on how to get builder to hurry up already? 22May 08, 2009 3:20 pm We just got told that our expected handover by the end of May isn't going to happen. All the builder can say is he's going as fast as he can and it could take another 4 or so weeks. That's stuffed us right up, however, as we now have to move twice and put our sh!t in storage. Our moving costs just went from an expected $400-$500 to over $1000 (including storage). Also have to move in with parents with two kids under 3. On the upside, house is looking really good and still haven't got any complaints regarding the quality of the build. What do you do? Re: Tips on how to get builder to hurry up already? 23May 08, 2009 8:05 pm Mel and Em, take heart, you are on the final leg i.e. almost there...we're just at frame. Would the builder be paying damages for the delay or perhaps assist with storage cost? It's good that you're almost done...before you know it...your signature will read "Handover date ??/??/2009"... The builder told us he can give us the scheduled works/plans...but get this ..he actually said that it may not really happen that way ??? The cheek ! I had to laugh...this was just too funny to cry about! Looks like my sense of humour gets more morbid with each passing day... He did explain the reasons for taking time i.e. he didn't want to use just "any tradie" but those he trusted and had good quality workmanship...one thing I cant fault him with is the quality...the fact that we got in a building inspector who himself thought so has given us peace of mind. There were a few pink sprays which the builder promptly corrected. He seems to want to help us the best he can...we will keep following up etc...hopefully this noisy hinge will get the oil ! See...told ya my sense of humour has gotten a little dark We will get through this! What do you do? Thats the most important I think mel & em. try and focus on the good stuff...although the 4 week delay is extremely inconvenient...it will hopefully be sooner than that.....remember you're almost there ! but he should pay something in terms of damages either way. Re: Tips on how to get builder to hurry up already? 25Sep 10, 2014 9:31 am Hi I'm also having trouble getting the builder to hurry up. We are 6 weeks past completion date and builder won't even give us a finish date. We have had mediation and after many emails and phonecalls to hurry him up, he seems to produce excuse after excuse. There is still 3weeks worth of work but that's assuming there are guys at our house everyday (which there isn't). Our builder is definitely one to stay away from (more on that later), but it just makes us more determined to spread the word on his poor form If your patio is going to be 35 sqm then that's going to need Council Approval. The fact that they previously approved your 25sqm patio will be irelevant 1 5504 Thank you so much. This has been very helpful. We definitely wish to settle and get these people out of our life. They are trying to charge us interest on late… 7 14262 Just be careful with building stability during construction, that is when the structure may be weakened, refer to your engineering drawings for stability methodology. 1 7223 |
