Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Exterior Colour Choices... I think I need help... 21May 07, 2009 12:46 am Hi All, Woodvillesouth - Thanks for that. Very kind of you to offer that Really appreciate it. Bluesteel - Thank you for your suggestions. I really should put up the front elevation of our house so that you can get an idea of what our house looks like. We are going for a modern look. Our house is only 8.05m wide (I know, REALLY narrow) so I thought having a lighter coloured roller door might work in our favour as it may make it look bigger?? Also, our roller door is surrounded by the brick as well so was thinking that the Shale Grey might be a nice compromise. Really like the idea of samples, might head there on the weekend. There is a big Stratco just other side of North East Road to where we are building so I will be able to see the block and get some samples in the same trip Thanks for your really positive feedback, it is nice to here that someone thinks our choices will be stunning! That is a huge compliment! Really appreciate your help. That has to be one of the best things about this forum... it is an excellent cure for boredom! I think I need help... 22May 14, 2009 11:44 pm Hi JonG Well our roof is on. It was almost 6pm so the photo is abit dark. We will put some more photos up on our blog tomorrow hopefully. There might even be some bricks there tomorrow if we are lucky. Feel free to go and have a look if you want, you can have a wander through too if the builders aren't there since it is not at lock-up yet. If you pop over and have a look you might want to have a look at a finished house around the corner on Fife Street (near the corner of Oval Ave). It has a similar colour scheme as what you are looking at. The bricks might be Aubergine (or might be abit darker couldn't quite tell), it has a light roof and the roller door looks like it might be Shale Grey. I think it looks really good. Anyway here is our roof: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our custom build with Rossdale http://hazehome.blogspot.com/ https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17630 Re: Exterior Colour Choices... I think I need help... 23May 19, 2009 12:24 pm Hey Woodville South, Thanks heaps for that! Your House is looking fantastic! Well done. I will try and drop round this week to see it in the flesh. Just when we thought we had it all sorted, we went to the brick place to get some pavers... and Aubergine has been discontinued!! They say it is only temporary but if we are building within a few months it won't be available. So that leaves us with: Liquorice http://www.pghbricks.com.au/Bricks/Defa ... ItemId=151 http://www.pghbricks.com.au/Bricks/Defa ... ItemId=151 or Vino which is much more purple and I don't really consider it an option. I think our minds are made up with Liquorice Brick, Shale Grey Roof and Fascias and Woodland Grey Gutters. Any thoughts? I think I need help... 24May 19, 2009 10:30 pm What a bummer about the Aubergine but I do love the liquorice too! If you go with a colour like shale grey for the roof & the garage door I think it will look brilliant. I remember you said you are going to have part render on the front. What colours are you thinking of using? My husband saw our SS on site today and he said that the brickies were supposed to start yesterday but got held up on another job so they should start Thursday. They are going to have a larger team there so he thinks it should only take a week not the 2-3 weeks he had originally suggested. I think I need help... 25May 20, 2009 10:38 am Hey Woodvillesouth, Thanks for that, we think it should look pretty good too. That's right, on the left hand side of our house there will be about 800mm (maybe more, can't remember) of bricks, then the Portico/Verandah wall juts out and that will be rendered in a dark Grey, under the portico, there is my Study/office windows (3 x 300mm windows) and it will be rendered around them also but in a light colour - a light but warm grey (if that makes sense). Then the front door is set back about 1m from the study wall and not sure if that is to be rendered the same light colour, or dark or left as brick. Next to the front door to the right is the other wall that juts out to form the portico and that again will be rendered in dark grey. To the right of that is the garage and that will be the exposed brick, hence why I think the lighter roller door would look best. House is only very narrow (8.05m front on an 8.95m wide block) so I wanted to break up the dark colours with light colours hopefully making it look wider than it is. Hope the above description makes sense, have been really lazy and haven't loaded any plans or anything (just haven't had the time really). Haven't decided on paint colours but think I will move away from colorbond colours so it makes our house a little different. We are booked in with PGH Bricks for a colour selection interview for Fri 29/05 and they should be able to help us find the right render colours. It really is an exciting time, my fiance and I did our pre-selections on the weekend and got a lot of things sorted! Feels like everything is happening now! That is a shame that the brickies were delayed but at least they will get the job done quicker, gotta be happy with that!! Look forward to checking in on your progress again soon Cheers Jon Jon Builing our First Home in Ridgehaven SA https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23429&p=316543#p316543 Re: Exterior Colour Choices... I think I need help... 26Jan 06, 2010 2:52 pm Hi guys, Just bumping up your posts. I am also building a house (well 2 actually) in Adelaide in Broadview. We have knocked down an old house and split the block in two. We also LOVE the Aubergine brick, I dont know if you have seen the new Medallion Homes showhomes at Lightsview, but one of them has Aubergine brick and it looks amazing. We are going to have a light grey roof and gutters (I think its Colorbond Surfmist), and a similar colour render in the back of the house in areas of the alfresco, but we are completely stuck on what colour to use on the front. The entire front of our house is going to be rendered and because it is a very narrow house - similar to yours Jon - we think that the light grey might look strange in that big area and I am trying to find something darker, which is not too blue grey, but also not brown. How are your houses looking now? Can you share any pictures/give any guidance with colours? Thanks! Leah Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3268 Hi there, we have classic cream gutters, fascia’s, roller door and undercover carport. We are are going to paint the roof a terracotta orange colour. After some… 0 4503 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6632 |
