If we delay 6 weeks we will get another $6000 but I think it would cost us almost that in delay and hassle, so we'll carry on. JB Re: First Home Owners Grant/Boost 25May 14, 2009 1:04 pm Hi Everyone Just for everyone that is planning to hold off on the contract sign just be aware that the FHOG extension has only been proposed at them moment and the legislation has not actually been passed and implemented. You will notice on the table that it states that the information is subject to legislative approval. I am thinking of holding back my contract too but just be aware that it is not set in stone and may still be reduced or knocked back when it goes through the reps and senate. Re: First Home Owners Grant/Boost 26May 14, 2009 1:13 pm Does anyone know when it will go through the senate? I am also looking at holding off until the 1st of July but we all should be taking note of this as we don't want to lose out instead. ie, the price dropping from $26K to $18, that would be even worse. Simonds & Porter Davis all you have to do is sign the contract before the end date of the FHOG. But you don't actually get the grant in your pocket until the slab is poured. It's only if you are an Owner Builder that the qualification point is different. JB Re: First Home Owners Grant/Boost 33May 15, 2009 1:01 pm 007 Are you an owner builder? Yes Re: First Home Owners Grant/Boost 35Oct 05, 2009 1:47 am Hi all, I have a question in regard to applying first home owner grant. Currently, I'm building my home as an owner builder but actually, I'm engaging someone who knows how to build a house. I hired him to build my house starting from planning, engaging tradesmen, etc. and so far, my house is about 60-70% completed. The thing is, I'm paying him cash in hand to do this and no contract (yes I know it's risky, but he's very experienced in this field and a trustworthy person since he's done very good job to my house and other houses as well). What I'm worried about is when applying first home owner grant, boost, etc. Is it okay not to disclose this to State Revenue Office? Will they ask who's building the house and everything? Do I say 'yes, I planned everything and engaged all the tradies myself' to them? I'm really worried because if they ask something and I don't understand something and catch me ******, I won't get the grant. Could you give me advice how to go about this, please? Any input from owner builders who applied for FHOG and how you proceeded with the application is greatly appreciated.
