Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Provincial Homes 561Oct 09, 2017 4:32 pm Hi Teemo We are at Oran park and building the Lindfield. This is / was to be our forever home. We'll see! I don't want to scare you, but your land elevation looks similar to mine. Our piering was double the allowance. Most people I spoke to have been close to there allowance and I guess it gets down to the amount of cut and fill. Again don't want to alarm you but be prepared for the shock if it does work out that they have to dig down further than anticipated. Then you realise that the pretty flat block wasn't flat at all. Re: Provincial Homes 567Oct 10, 2017 8:46 am We had a PA of 85lm and we used about 72 from memory. It's luck of the draw with the block. Building Nu Caprice, nearly complete. Re: Provincial Homes 572Oct 26, 2017 4:33 pm So slab got poured today. 31 l/m of piering over our allowance came in at $2,790 inc GST. $90 per lm. They have been chipping away at my block pretty regularly since they got on site. so in 4 weeks they leveled the land, did piering and poured slab. Pretty exciting seeing a little bit done each time we go out there. Re: Provincial Homes 573Oct 26, 2017 4:59 pm Hey Teemo Great isn't it! We have now had the external plumbing, been allocated a supervisor (Troy), received our 1st progress payment request and we also have electrical conduit sticking out of the ground where the meter will one day be. Now the frame is next!! It is a very exciting time Re: Provincial Homes 576Nov 08, 2017 12:02 pm A quick question. Provincial advertised that they dont use waffle pods and it is a solid slab. One thing i have been wondering though is when our slab was being laid there were a whole lot of white block pods that I can only assume was covered by the black plastic. Isnt this essentially the same thing as a waffle pod then? I was expecting no polystyrene at all but im sure it was there. First picture you can see some at the back and also note how elevated the slab is. Second photo was taken right next to it. I dont know anything about slabs so i wasnt sure if this is normal or not. I guess there was enough to cover that surface? From looking at how low the land was when they flattened it to where the black plastic was there was definitely something under the plastic. Re: Provincial Homes 579Nov 14, 2017 4:25 pm So after some investigation the term "Solid concrete slab" is a little different to what I thought. It does actually make sense. The slab sits over fill or in my case a combination of fill and foam boxes. The slab is x thickness (Dont remember the dimensions) which is solid concrete. The difference is from what I understand is a waffle pod slab actually has the concrete surround the waffle pod and so the slab is not all concrete but a combination of concrete and foam. So in essence the solid concrete slab provincial offer is a thick slab that sits ontop of fill (Dirt, foam) resting on the piers whereas a waffle pod has the foam inside the concrete. Sounds the same?? Unless the thickness is far more substantial than that of a Waffle Pod slab. Just an update on ours. The frame was delivered in parts last Friday and Yesterday and they have made good progress with the construction and have basically done the 1st floor. The Dulux colour consultants are awesome.
