I'm so jealous but so far your plan and block look fantastic! Well on it's way We actually had a choice between slimline and "super slimline" apparently it's even skinnier still. That's the only option I was given for the stila bk1 yeah we had the option at the very start and figured we'd be tight @sses and not upgrade... then we totally forgot about it when we were busy upgrading everything else and by the time we realised it was too late How is yours coming along Serge? I see they now have built some displays of that range ... I really did think it was in their best interest to have a few displays! Re: 78XTC's official build thread! 26May 01, 2009 5:51 am curious Hi Mellybuilding 78xtc rice is also a very beautiful brick and to be honest we had seen so many houses with these bricks that in the end we couldnt even tell the difference between these bricks (from the address given to us by PGH)............78xtc we are building retreat 385 and our slab as poured in the first wk of march..........so very good progress for us and most of all no tension unlike the contract stage I'm a little embarrassed to say that there is a house on the other side of our estate who has used rice with a black roof, gutters and window frames... We've driven past so many times and stopped and just stared at the house for so long that the last time we did it someone came out the front door and asked us what we were doing When we explained ourselves they were ok and quite chuffed that we loved their house so much but it was still very embarrassing Re: 78XTC's official build thread! 27May 01, 2009 8:47 am congrats on your slab!!! Well we thought so too but 3 of our family members sent me emails telling me how small it looked! I replied saying it was going to be a two storey house! but Chris and I both thought it looked huge when we first saw it!! Oh well I guess you can't please everyone (especially family who may be a little bitter and twisted over us building) Re: 78XTC's official build thread! 29May 01, 2009 9:05 am 78xtc mellybuilding :z: congrats on your slab!!! Oh well I guess you can't please everyone (especially family who may be a little bitter and twisted over us building) It def does look huge. I spose for yourself you can tell how huge it is cos you can pic the display home aswell. For other people they just see concrete and cant picture rooms. Once the frame goes on it will loook massive!!!!! How long are they waiting before the start the frame? Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Next week apparently Chris has a meeting today with our SS (who we haven't even met yet!) so hopefully we will have exact dates this afternoon! We have three retaining walls to build at the block this weekend - so not looking forward to that! Im meeting our SS for the first time on Tuesday . have spoken on the phone though. Weather should be good next week. you may have your frame up before you know it. That great. At least your bricks are already delivered too. No delaying due to supplies. !!! Oh it will be so good when you can walk through the frame and say, "thats the bedroom, thats the kitchen!!" so exciting As for the retaining wall.. Good luck!! Just out of interest how are you building them and what are you using? I'm going to attempt the same, but I have got much idea on how to do it Our Blog! http://cityplantation.blogspot.com | Building the Havana 485 with Plantation Homes (Henley) Re: 78XTC's official build thread! 38May 02, 2009 2:49 pm [quote="Gester"]78xtc you shouldn't be online at 8AM today! you should be building your retaining walls hehe I have to go through the same thing in a month or so for myself as well. Just out of interest how are you building them and what are you using? I'm going to attempt the same, but I have got much idea on how to do it /quote] Ok I have to tell you all that I am completely useless at building retaining walls I fell into one of the holes and dropped a bag of cement (making it split open & create a concrete dust cloud). Then when I went to pour cement into the hole I missed and half the concrete ended up on the ground next to the hole So I was sent to get lunch and then I was sent home Gester this is the second time we've had to build some retaining walls - we opted for treated pine because I want to put creeping plants in the top eventually so I thought the pine would look more "gardeny". Hubby hired an auger & cement mixer from Kennards & bought the sleepers from bunnings. The most important thing to remember is that you need to go down into the ground the same distance that you need to go up. The first one we did we only needed to go 500mm down but this one that is being built today is 950mm high so it took a while for them to get down that far due to the rock. Today they are just digging the holes, putting the posts in & pouring concrete into the hole & then letting it set. Tomorrow they will go back up and put the sides up. I'll take some pics when they are finished to show you... Oh they are also going to put some aggi pipe down the bottom of the big retaining wall & then some small gravel/rocks to allow the water to flow down & into the aggi pipe easily. Where are you building again Gester?
