Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Liberty 42 - 6 mths in - back deck starts - new pics 13/ 241Sep 13, 2010 8:44 am We had our 6 month maintenance check and all really minor stuff..had very little movement which is good. Hoping the fact we're sitting on an old tennis court meant the ground was nice and compact. We've finally started the back deck. We were told we needed approval for it so after calling around and getting quotes from certifiers ranging from $350 - $2500 I finally drew up the plans, filled out all the forms and sent it to the cheaper certifier...who then called me and said in fact what we wanted to do didn't ACTUALLY REQUIRE certification but we could get it if we really wanted. So got the joists and clips delivered on Friday and spent the weekend putting it all down. 43 joists, 246 clips = 86 massive bolts and 1000's of screws...all I can say is we're very sore today. So here's some pics of day 1 - attaching most of the joists: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Day 2 - attaching the clips: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Dog still has room for his couch: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Update next week after we put all the boards down Built Liberty 42 - Handover 26th Feb 2010 forum thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17243 Re: Liberty 42 - 6 mths in - back deck done- pics 19/9 242Sep 19, 2010 7:13 pm After another massive weekend we finished the back deck. What product is it, is there a web link to it? Are there any other colours? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Liberty 42 - 6 mths in - back deck done- pics 19/9 251Sep 23, 2010 8:48 am Hi Lex, We used modwood http://www.modwood.com.au . There's about 4 colours now. We went with Jarrah as the place we originally got it from for the front deck had it on special. Did you actually build the metricon Liberty? How do you find the house and also is there sufficient natural lights in all rooms or do you feel they could have done better ? I am keen on this house but read on this forum that light is a restriction? Have you got pictures of the internal house and the front? Are you happy with tghe end product? Re: Liberty 42 - 6 mths in - back deck done- pics 19/9 253Sep 23, 2010 1:30 pm Interesting material choice. Wood decking has me concerned about wear and tear (we will have two labs running across it constantly), so seeing an alternative like this is encouraging. We made a few minor modifications but other than that wouldn't change a thing! Mods we made: - garage slightly wider and put a roller door on the back..this has been v useful feaure! - made the outdoor room huge...love the outdoor room - put a door under that stairs...there's heaps of room under there for me to store the extra tiles, excess paperwork etc. - put 1/2 walls on the downstairs living room as i'm using it as an office and wanted to close it off a bit - I changed the 2 vertical awning windows in the living room to a horizonal awning to match the lounge in the open plan area. Downstairs we have great natural light in all the rooms...but because of the window positions we only had to put blinds on the front bedroom and 2 dining room windows. Upstairs is pretty good also...but we've put blinds on all the windows as they're bedrooms and ppl tend to like the option of a dark room. With the blinds all open there's heaps of light! We have quite light walls and just dark feature walls so that makes a big difference for the light reflection. If I remember correctly you have harsh bushfire standards to meet? The composite decking is rated between pine and hardwood and not suitable for bushfire areas apparantly. Please could you advise me if you think the steel frame was worth the extra money (and any idea how much extra you paid?) and also can you tell me the size of your outdoor room as it is amazing and I want one just like it! Many thanks. PS the pictures of your Plantation facade have now convinced my partner that we should build that too! Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7079 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3212 Hi there, we have classic cream gutters, fascia’s, roller door and undercover carport.
