Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 25, 2009 9:45 pm Hi All, We are building santorini 29 with big M and need help with choosing the facade. We had happily settled for coastal which looks similar to this below (except brick piers instead of stack-stone): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ That is until 2 weeks ago when M opened their point cook display which has Santorini with Kingston facade (which has ben inspired by their californian facade) and looks similar to this below except for brick piers instead of render: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Both these photos are from their displays so obviously looks really flash, when we build them they will be much more modest without all the jazz. Would love your input as we are torn between the two . Re: Need help with facade....please! 2Apr 25, 2009 9:58 pm Hi Malik, I also like both of the facades so I definately see your diffuclt situation!!! I am not a huge fan of the "weather board" type products used in the coastal facade, so I would go with the Kingston for that reason alone. However if you like the look the weather board has then I would go for the coastal, its symetrical, neat and really inviting. Apoligies for not giving you a diffinitive answer and I hope you reach your decision Building our FIRST HOME - M3tricon Santorini 29 on 2 acres just West of Warrnambool Re: Need help with facade....please! 3Apr 25, 2009 10:01 pm I like the second one but I'm not too keen on the window style. Re: Need help with facade....please! 5Apr 25, 2009 10:26 pm Thanks Aimeh, Hels and joles for your input. Aimeh - I am not a huge fan of weatherboard too but this photo is that of lumeah coastal while santorini coastal has weatherboard only on one side and bricks on the other (couldnt find any real-life photos of santorini coastal). Also we were going to use the weatherboard as colour breaker for the facade as we have chosen darker colours for bricks and roof tiles. But if we are going to go with Kingston, will probably rethink our external colour combinations. Hels - Good point, I like the awning style windows which you are probably right these ones aren't. WIll check if the kingston has the same windows (as the photo is that of californian, M doesn't have a single photo of kingston on their website and I forgot to take one). Joles - Couldn't agree more. Californian has to be one of the best facades by M (my favourite is contemporary at caroline springs grandview). Re: Need help with facade....please! 6May 14, 2009 8:03 pm Malik if you havn't decided yet take a look here. http://www.metricon.com.au/victoria/hom ... fault.aspx Has both of the facades you were talking about I like both but I am leaning towards the Coastal facade with a similar colour scheme - looks to be CB Ironstone for the render matched with a white for the weatherboard, we would if possible match the piers to the weatherboard colour using render. Re: Need help with facade....please! 7May 14, 2009 8:49 pm Hi zerosignal, Thanks for your input. guess what, we have chosen the coastal facade . In the end we didnt like the kingston facade as coastal has eaves while kingston doesnt. and the price is the same for both. Re: Need help with facade....please! 8May 14, 2009 8:59 pm I love light, lots of it! So pic 2 is my preference. Quite like the rendered pillars as it adds interest. Also agree with whoever said not a fan of the window style - too hard too clean with all the small panes (unless you are lucky enough to have a window cleaner!) Life's too short too drink bad wine Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3258 Dear Members I have to decide the Facade column size.
