Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 25, 2009 4:01 am Hi all, New to the forum and building the first house which will be the family home. We are looking at Mirvac at the moment and wondered if anyone has had dealings with them (good or bad). Very undecided at the moment as they have a design we like however preliminry tender does not seem as itemised as it could be. They have not really broken down site cost and basix and it seems to have a lot of areas they could add on charges later. Any help or comments would be great Thanks Re: Are Mirvac any good? 2Apr 25, 2009 11:39 am From what we have found out is that they only now build on their own land... they are corporate.... listed on the stock exchange...so many levels of management (not good when something goes wrong with your home) and big margins and overheads... prices seem out of whack compared to the non corporate builders Life is an enjoyment, enjoy it Re: Are Mirvac any good? 3Apr 25, 2009 11:57 am Nope. A friend of mine purchased in the Waverly estate, spent about $1 million on it, and there's no way the quality is worth that. There's cracks at the window frames, benchtop is chipped. Not to mention, estate guidelines are....******. Re: Are Mirvac any good? 4Apr 25, 2009 12:26 pm Thanks for the info guys. Seems very hard to find anyone who has actually completed a home with them. Probably due to the only building on their own land thing. Keen to hear from anyone and everyone who has had dealings with them. Re: Are Mirvac any good? 5Mar 23, 2010 12:16 pm We've had a tender from them too and at first glance seems well priced but to get it to the same standard as an Eden Brae we're looking at it would cost about the same (if not more) and the house designs aren't anywhere near as nice. From what I've heard we're lucky in Newcastle because they're willing to make some changes but in Sydney you're pretty much stuck with everything the way it is. We've also had a full tender from Masterton and was more expensive but lots more included and once again a much nicer house.
