Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Tiles vs Timber flooring...? 61Aug 30, 2009 2:06 pm oh this thread has gone quiet, but I agree, why not both? wife and I can't agree and are thinking to meet halfway, front half of the house (living, hallway/entrance) 600x600 porcelain tiles and back half (TV room, dining and kitchen) timber. Will this look very odd? From the entrance, you will actually see the switch from tile to timber halfway down the hallway. bit schizophrenic.. My preference is to only have the TV room timber and everywhere else tiles, what does every one think? Re: Tiles vs Timber flooring...? 62Aug 30, 2009 4:30 pm Hi all, we are also trying to decide between flooring options- what about with pets inside? Can anyone comment on the difference between floorboards and tiles for small dogs running around? For example matt tile vs matt finish floorboards? The reasoning behind this was entry area / access to garage we thought that people coming in with a rock / dirty shoes, the tiles would be a little more resiliant. The timber floors through the house was for ease of installation and lastly just love the look / feel of polished hardwood floors! Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15908 1 15753 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6191 |
