Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 23, 2009 5:40 pm Hi all, I hope this is not one of those questions along the lines of "how long is a piece of string?"...but... What would you consider to be a reasonable time for a project home builder to produce house plans, including front and rear elevations etc? Thanks...Pix. I would have thought a few of weeks - I'm sure that's how long our last builder took, hmmm 2 to 3 weeks You didn't get them in the mail then today? Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: House Plans: How long should they take??? 3Apr 23, 2009 6:02 pm Boo Hoo -- still no plans I meant the first set of draft plans, after our modifications and changes to the builder's standard design, that we are supposed to get before our selection appointment next week. We were 'promised' they would arrive before the weekend so we could have adequate time to go through them. We've been waiting six weeks. Re: House Plans: How long should they take??? 4Apr 23, 2009 6:07 pm Six weeks - I'd be calling and emailing them daily for an update!!! Yes, you want time to go through them before you select colors etc. Hmmmm Doesn't sound right. I'd be kicking up a stink!!! Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: House Plans: How long should they take??? 5Apr 23, 2009 6:29 pm I spoke to my contact at the company today (the one who promised me the plans would be here this week) and he said they are still working on them. Hmmmmm... I really don't think we will get them before the weekend and that will mean we will have to go through them next week with just a day or two before our colour selection appt. Hubby will be tired each evening after a hard day's slog -- and as for me looking after my twins on school holidays -- well do I need to say anymore??? Re: House Plans: How long should they take??? 6Apr 23, 2009 7:24 pm hi pix,... 6 weeks is a long wait. read your blog... can you PM me feedback with your builder.. they are part of the builders we are narrowing down to... we are talking to Julie - the lady at homeworld. Re: House Plans: How long should they take??? 7Apr 24, 2009 6:22 pm They finally arrived...sort of: After some phone calls late on Friday afternoon from me to the builder, they have sent me the plans by email with hard copies to follow next week. A great deal better than nothing at all. They are full of errors but we get to fix that next week at the review. Now I'm squinting trying to read the teeny numbers printed on A4 which would normally appear on A3 format Yippee!!! Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13769 Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20413 Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days? Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 6884 |
