Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 21, 2009 12:13 pm Hi everyone.. in the process of picking designs and a builder/ company for our first home.Little over whelmed by it all. We live in far nth NSW, bout half hr from Yamba. At the moment leaning towards Perry because they seem the most afforable to us.Have also looked at GJ Gardner and Integrity Homes. Puzzled to why the "normal" kitchen has no overhead cupboards and no fly screens.. when so many others do... so many coments good and bad on here.. Still not sure what to do. Dont want to be ripped off Any advice or help ?? Re: help with building our first home, so confused.... 2Apr 21, 2009 5:40 pm Hi Kelnmik+4! I think the most important thing firstly is to find a design that needs the least number of changes as structural changes will cost you a lot of money and delays. Next look at inclusions and determine if upgrade are worthwhile/necessary or are you happy with the standard (ask lots of questions at display homes re what are upgrades and what is standard). A lot of times the differences between builders can be low cost items or items that you don't necessarily want or need. Look mainly at the big cost differences - kitchen, bathroom, floor coverings etc. Hope that helps... We have decided to go with Places which is the same company that owns Porter Davis, if you have them in NSW I highly reccomend them. They have a great promotion at the moment that includes site costs, and a whole bunch of internal stuff (Overhead cupboards etc). Like MrsRose said you need to decide which upgardes you cant live without & what you can accept as standard. Our consultant at Places has rung us twice just to see if we have any more questions & even assisted us in choosing a block by getting the plans off the developer before they were released. So far so good, but having said that we haven't started yet so here's hoping it continues as smoothly. Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27371 Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA?
