Browse Forums Building A New House Re: The Plans version 1 2Apr 21, 2009 11:24 am Thats an interesting design is it by choice or is it to suit the land you have? i'd like to see a front elevation view. Re: The Plans version 1 3Apr 21, 2009 11:26 am Wow! Those plans are great! Are you on acreage by any chance? ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Re: The Plans version 1 4Apr 21, 2009 1:28 pm Really love it - nice and different and I like how the kids bedrooms are far from the Master. Storage is fantastic as is the amount of light Love the entrance to the laundry via the Pantry Walk in store - I like the placement of the future rumpus room too, it adds to the "kids wing" style. Only one comment I would make is that the fridge is a long way from the kitchen sink and in the path of a traffic area (though not high traffic). However on saying that I don't know where else you'd put it Nice work Building Upside down house in Wantirna VIC Current Stage: Procrastination... it's just all too hard.... Blog: http://thereluctantbuilder.blogspot.com/ Re: The Plans version 1 5Apr 21, 2009 3:34 pm ICK; Yep have a tad over 1.04 acres whatever that is in M2 (4278m). Lots of land for a vegatable garden ozkarnak; We realised that the fridge was to far this morning, looking for advice there.... The gararge is most likely going nex to the master bedroom and under cover walkway to the laundry. thanks for the comments so far. Ant Re: The Plans version 1 6Apr 21, 2009 3:34 pm Very nice! I too was wondering if it's on acreage? I hate storage off the laundry but that's just me. I was wondering about the broom cupboard though, it's the one thing I would put in the laundry and I'm not sure if the walk in store is intended for that? The foyer seems out of proportion? Re: The Plans version 1 7Apr 21, 2009 11:03 pm I am very jealous of the size of the master bedroom! This is a really interesting plan, which I think you have designed really well! I also agree that the fride is quite far away. Could you put it in the pantry? Re: The Plans version 1 8Apr 21, 2009 11:40 pm That is an awesome design. Its a little unusual and I'd say innovative. I really like it. I'll give you my thoughts, I'm not trying to offend you, just offering my opinion as to what I would like to see added. First thing you need to do is to locate the house so that the views from the dining/kitchen/family rooms are looking out at the nicest features of your property. The Second thing is you need to change the foyer, its doesn't make for much of an entrance, I would remove/relocate the theater room and take the front wall back to inline with where the two wings join the square part of the front. Third if you could I would push the kitchen back into where the pantry and storage is in order to give a wider viewing angles of the back windows along with the dining room and family room. Make the back wall all windows so you have great views, doesn't need to be all doors, just the center doors are fine. Fourth if you could make the ceiling over the dining/kitchen/family rooms vaulted or double story or even sloping so that its higher at the end with the windows. I think that by opening up the center rooms would really make for a very dramatic entrance. Whats an opinion without the salt chatmaster First thing you need to do is to locate the house so that the views from the dining/kitchen/family rooms are looking out at the nicest features of your property. Yep. Hense the shape of the house. Kind of like a star wars fighter was my description to the designer. chatmaster The Second thing is you need to change the foyer, its doesn't make for much of an entrance, I would remove/relocate the theater room and take the front wall back to inline with where the two wings join the square part of the front. Yep needs to be changed but I want to keep the theater. Fantastic Idea, wiill discuss with the designer, also give me a spot to put the fridge... chatmaster Fourth if you could make the ceiling over the dining/kitchen/family rooms vaulted or double story or even sloping so that its higher at the end with the windows. Cheers Anthony Re: The Plans version 1 10Apr 22, 2009 12:46 pm I did have concerns re the fridge, a lot of plans have either the fridge or the pantry in a walkway, but not many people seem to mind about it so thought I wouldn't bring it it! I too thought the entrance could've been a little different, doesn't seem 'grand' enough, but I wouldn't take out your HT/living, a large house like that needs min two living areas, should be three (when rumpus is built). I worry about lighting in your ensuite shower also, will there/is there allowed to be a light fitting inside the actual shower enclosure - I've just seen displays with no lighting in a similar set up and I honestly wonder how people can actually see in there? If you were worried about the entrance to the walk in store (coming off the laundry), the entrance could always be off the hallway, this could give you a little more cupboard space?? ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days? Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 6892 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much.
